I noticed on the Dell web page it advertises the bigger 9 cell battery being able to last 7 hours, but it seems like even if I lower the monitor's brightness, turn off a few things... I'm still only getting about 3.4 hours..... anyone else having battery issues? Is this normal?

check to see if you have max battery power by clicking on your battery icon and choose max battery quick set

I get 6:30 minutes on my 9 cell.

maybe because I have the faster processor 2.1ghz... and the Nvidea card... I'm sitting here in windows typing this with the monitor turned down, i just unplugged with a full battery.... Ok it's making a lier out of me... now it says 4.47 hours.... its on maximum quicket.... but that's still not seven ! I also have bluetooth on... using a logitech bluetooth mouse

to get max battery:
1. turn off WIFI
2. dim screen to lowest possible setting
3. turn off all unecessary processes (antivirus, etc.)
4. remove any devices plugged into the computer (usb ports, pc card, etc.)
5. remove any discs from the dvd drive
6. make sure your video card, sound card, NIC, all have their battery saving features turned on
7. make sure your battery is at 100% (duh)
after doing the above, take a reading and see what you get. -

I get around 3 hours with the six cell battery running on Nvidia's graphics card.

Your processor speed dosent matter, since they all use the same amount of power, and all of them clock down when their full strength isnt needed. Now the major thing that will affect it is if you have the 7400 or the integrated graphics. If you have the latter you will have a big gain in battery life, but alot less graphics power. If I turn my screen on low I can get about 2.5 hours of hardcore gaming out of my 9-cell.
