Yesterday my touchpad was getting so hot that, with the friction from moving my fingers around on it, made it unbearably hot to the point where I had to shut it down and wait for it to cool. I noticed there's something right below it that was really hot when I felt it which must be responsible for the heat of the touchpad. I havn't yet unscrewed and opened it to see what it was, was checking here to ask if anyone else had a similar problem. I've only had my m1330 for about 2 weeks now and I first noticed it yesterday.

Use a temp monitor like HWmonitor.

The wireless card is under the touchpad.

It's not the wireless card. When the tech disassembled my laptop there was a large chip under there which is the south/northbridge (whichever one isn't in the main cooling area) and the area still gets hot without a wireless card in.

    Must be the southbridge then.

Can touchpads get rougher? It feels almost like the touchpad isn't as smooth when my finger glides over it as before, and yes there is friction from everything that moves, including my fingers on the touchpad. Just resting my finger on it is fine; it's only when I move it around that it gets uncomfortably hot.

Ok actually I think I know what might be wrong; there might be some glue remains because the other day I had to glue stuff and my fingers were a little sticky and I had to use the touchpad a few times, because there is definite abrasion when I move my fingers vertically. Is there a recommended procedure for cleaning touchpads? Is a damp cloth with windex ok?
