I have an old compaq and a new m140,both running xp home. When i got standby on my compaq it is lightning quick to wake up. On my dell it shows me the booting up bar and takes around 30 seconds. Are others experiencing this?

Is the M140 going into standby, or hibernation?

It sounds almost like you're dipping into hibernation, which would take longer to start back up than standby. Might want to check your Power Management settings.

How long is it sitting in "standby" before you try to wake it up? Do you have the long restart time if the computer goes to standby for any amount of time, even if just a few seconds?

It still sounds like hibernation, if anything maybe it's going from standby to hibernation after X amount of time. For example, maybe it's a "Go to standby after 5 minutes, then to hibernation 5 minutes after that" or something.

If not, it is truly odd. Perhaps disabling hibernation on the Hibernation tab in Power Options to check, even if it is a longshot.

Hrm, also, does this behavior happen on battery, or AC, or both? Just trying to think of any possible ideas that could give a clue here, heh.
