    xps not booting..caps lock and scroll look indicator blinking.

    need help on why my xps is not booting...when i press the power button...the scrolll lock and caps lock indicator keeps on blinking for a while..and then the laptop just shuts down...help is much appreciated...

    Are you using a battery, if so it could be dead. Try powering up while connected to the power adapter.
    If you can't start it up you should probably contact Dell support

    Yea, which XPS? That's like saying my Inspiron is not booting! But which one?

    When the caps and scroll lock are blinking at the same time, it means the modem is preventing the system from completing POST.

    Possibly defective....you need to replace it.

    The problem could be a memory as well.

    What I have is a Dell Precision M90 with 2 x 2GB memory.

    Caps lock and scroll lock:

    tested each memory on DIMM SLOT A. One of the memory doesnt make the system boot, blank screen and caps lock & scroll lock.

    Dell sent a replacement memory module and the machine works fine now.
