Looking for a $450 gaming build. I need at least 8gb of ram and a wireless wifi pcie card. It needs to be able to run fallout 4 at minimum settings with decent fps. I prefer intell processors but amd is fine as long as i can upgrade quite abit. I also have harddrives for it already

You definitely will have to look at used. Something with Q6600 perhaps.

You don't need the CPU cooler and thermal paste. The CPU already comes with CPU cooler with thermal paste on it.

I wouldn't go with a case with a PSU included, they are usually junk, and 300 watts might be a bit low to power your parts.

Get the 950 instead of 750Ti. Costs almost the same, better performance. Also a big nono on that PSU. ipwn's choice is better.

Yes, if you can, I would go for a 80+ rated power supply. But that power supply is okay.

Yes. You can upgrade your CPU as long it's the same socket.

I would drop the CD-Rom drive and install your OS with a USB stick if you have one, or borrow one.

http://www.microcenter.com/product/446260/Core_i3-4170_37_GHz_LGA_1150_Boxed_Processor ---Slightly better CPU, and cheaper.

Put the savings towards this used Amazon Warehouse GTX 960. Specifically because if anything is wrong with it, they do free returns and are great about customer service. This card is also 4gb and will beat a GTX 950 easily. In most games I've seen around 6-10fps more, which when you're less than 60fps in some cases can mean a lot.

Ok well the dvd drive is mandatory i need it for other software. Whats the difference between the two i3s. But i will look into the other graphics card is the prefomance better than the 950? So much so to pay more for a used one?

The i3-4170 is a little stronger than the 4150, if you can pick it up at a microcenter, I would say go for it.

The used GTX 960 is an okay deal, most new GTX 960s are around $200. I found the 2GB version for $180, with rebate $170.

If you can afford it, I would say a GTX 960 is pretty worth.

I would prefer the Intel build, as Intel CPUs are usually better for gaming.

Its seems this amd dwarfs the intell in preformance. And i can even afford one clocking a 3.7ghz quadcore with hyper threading. And theres plenty of upgrades

I would go intel. The performance will actually be very close, and the fact that you can upgrade later to an i7 and blow the doors off the AMD is nice. Intel CPUs have been killing AMD for some time now. For reference, my brother uses a first gen i7 that was released in 2009 and it most likely still beats or comes very close to matching (yes it is overclocked) to AMDs very latest 8 core CPUs. A 2009 AMD CPU wouldn't even come close.

Yes the 960 is worth the price premium over the 950.

Yes, a gen 4 i7 should be good enough. Gaming isn't all about the CPU, it's mostly the GPU.

Same price as your gtx 950. Looks to be a replacement 960 from EVGA, sealed. I would strongly urge you to try and get the extra $13 for shipping together. The GTX 950 is already not even a 1080p card.

Since you're on a budget, its worth it to shop around and try and find the best deals. eBay, outlet websites, etc. PC part picker doesn't always have the best deals. Try and get the most performance per dollar.

No, the GTX 960 is significantly better than the HD7770. Like 200% better.

Even at 80$ it wouldn't be worth it to get that old AMD card.It performs worse than my laptop version of the GTX 960m which is essentially a higher clocked 750 Ti.

Yeah, go with GTX 960 minimum.

edit: although I say that, I use a 750 Ti half-height GPU in my HTPC/Steam box and plays very nicely. Granted most of what we play on there are indy titles that aren't real stressful on a GPU.

Get the R9 380 instead. Similar thermals and TDP, with better performance (in most games).

Edit: Not to mention it has 4 GB of VRAM instead of the 960's 2 GB.

There are sometimes good auctions or local offers for used R9 290, or GTX 780 for just a little more (like 170-200usd, and i think there are cheaper), the best option imo, because it's still are upper medium-end cards, or old high-end and especially since r9 290 are now growing in potentatial due to dx12. Of course processor should be at least this i3 6100 or i would take some i5 haswell or ivy/sandy bridge if you habe good offers on it.
