    Kinda dark joke there.

Most likely their source wish to remain anonymous. Off course it can very well be wrong, we will soon know.

Yeah but I've only seen this posted on forums as conspiracy theory nonsense - there's not a shred of evidence to back it.

Maybe I should´ve marked the thread [Rumor] instead of [Unconfirmed]. Tried to be clear there´s no source involved yet.

Exactyl! Rumors are word-to-mouth - Unconfirmed would mean a reputable and reliable source is claiming something and AMD have not made a statement.

Since AMD confirmed that the Vega chips would be called RX Vega, it leaves little to imagination that the RX 5xx line would be a rebrand. There are rumors that we would see Vega minus the HBM in a RX 5xx form, but that's unlikely if you ask me. Navi would be the architecture that would scale from the very bottom to the very top (various memory types including).

I had this confirmed by a sales manager of a firm that deals with embedded products and he came back to me with this info after dealing with his counterparts in china. I know that is vague but I'd prefer not to get anyone in trouble.

Mind you I wasn't asking about the rebrand the man mentioned that info as I was requesting samples of the RX4xx line and he explained they won't be available because of the rebrand and that samples would have to wait until the RX5xx line was available

Makes sense, but I'll wait to hear something more official.
