Just wondering what you guys think on the scenario, been playing the Witcher 3 recently and interested in trying out PhysX stuff again.

I got just enough space for a single slot GPU to be modded in, was even debating modding in a SBC before I realized I didnt have a purpose for it at present beyond temperature monitoring to a separate display internally in my TU150.

I know multi-GPU scenarios arent as common in these parts but just looking for another opinion.

PhysX in Witcher 3 runs on the CPU, not the GPU. There would be no benefit to a dedicated PhysX processing unit.

So things like Hairworks wouldnt be used by a "physx" card?

    Nope. HairWorks uses tessellation.

Bummer, there goes any justification for a mod in my PC, ah well.

Nvidia totally ditched PhysX hardware based features a while ago. A total shame, I loved PhysX: realistic fabric interaction, realistic smoke particles, realistic paper interaction, destructible floor... the last game that I played that had proper PhysX implementation was Batman Arkham Knight. Makes a huge difference over the consoles version thanks to PhysX IMO

I bought an NVME to PCIE adapter, was about 14 USD, if it works then cool if not then pretty harmless big picture.

I figure I could use it for NVENC to remove any performance hit from gaming if I want to show a friend a game or maybe hook up some displays that arent used for my primary 3d applications.

That and maybe Borderlands 3 still uses physx (I dont know).

I've got a p2000 sitting in a tower unused so not much investment on my end here for this little experiment in my ITX machine

Off this point a bit but does anyone know the last model Nvidia GPU that had physX support?

you mean the oldest or newest available?

The NVME to PCIe x4 adapter didnt quite work out. I was using an external method of powering the molex connector (to power the adapter) but I think it wasnt enough juice. Driver would install but I would lose video altogether once it got about half way or so.

I found my cable for the PSU so I will give that a try this weekend.

The card I have is actually the Quadro M4000, from my understanding its a GTX 970 w8GB at a lower power limit.
