Hi! there are these new mobos micro-stx with mxm gpu. I'm really curious about them :)

"Now aftermarket availability for upgrading down the road is a very valid concern but ASRock has iterated that they’re working with the MXM card vendors Aetina and TUL to ensure there are affordable and readily available upgrade options for future GPU generations (like Vega)."

    HP Z2 Mini G3
    https://www.computerpoweruser.com/article/24227/review-hp-z2-mini-g3

    "
On the unit we tested, in addition to the on-die Intel HD Graphics 530, there’s also a discrete GPU in the form of NVIDIA’s Quadro M620, which sports a cut-down version of the Maxwell-based GeForce GTX 750 Ti’s GPU, with 512 CUDA cores, 32 texture mapping units, 16 ROPs, and 2GB GDDR5 running on a 128-bit bus. Although it’s not much of a gaming GPU, this 1TFLOP- (single precision floating-point) capable GPU is significantly better at managing the workloads typical of CAD applications. This is an MXM card, and together with the SO-DIMM slots, are about the only components in this system that can be called mobile-grade."

That's a pretty slick system, and in workplaces where a thin client isn't appropriate it would be great.

Is there a 2017 model of the Asrock Vision X available? I am looking for something like this atm. Small case with a blu-ray optical drive. Or maybe there are alternative builds from other manufacturers?

Antec makes some pretty small ones, does it have to be slot load optical?

No. Just as small as possible. Similar to the Asrock. The known ITX cubics (Silverstone Sugo or Sharkoon C10) are already to big. I don't need a dGPU, iGPU is enough for playing media files.

    EDIT:
You mean something like the Antec ISK300-150? Seems to hold a full-size optical drive.

I do have The Vortex. Most people think because of the looks , they probably think the design wasn’t properly thought through.

I bought one with a GTX 1070 and downgraded to two GTX 980 , which in turn is an upgrade. Two of the gtx 980 is more powerful than the single gtx 1070. Tearing it apart to upgrade is very very easy. The video above of the tear down is not a video of doing an upgrade on the GPU. You only need to take the two side panel off to upgrade the GPUs. The GPU idles #1 60 Celsius while #2 idles at 42 Celsius. I would choose a Vortex over any other Desk mini any day , due to the cooling/Heatsinks the Vortex have.

Yes of course :) We also have the Nano in the SCHENKER business range.

We have an exclusive relationship with ZPTAC which means we are the only company who can build and sell fully configured versions of these systems :) It's not a project I have been working on though, so if you have any questions I'll have my colleague (desktop PC product manager) jump online and answer.

P.S. 7700 is the max CPU, no "K" as TDP is too high.
