    Hi All,
I've decided that I'm going to build a desktop computer. I will primary use it for light gaming (League of Legends mainly, but will also play new titles, but I'm not bothered about playing on the highest graphics settings). I will of course also use it for work / general web browsing and watching Twitch etc..

I've made a component list of everything I'm going to buy, just wanted to check what everyone thought and if there were any improvements that could be made for a similar price.

To reiterate, this isn't a completed build, I want something to play around with (a hobby) so I want something I can add too, upgrade and or overclock (slightly).

    Components

    • Windows 8 £80 / Linux (Free)
    • Corsair Builder Series CXM 600W PSU £57.98
    • HyperX Savage 8GB 1866 Mhz DDR CL9 XMP RAM £56.83
    • Intel Core I5-4690K with Intel HD 4600 £191.72
    • Gigabyte Z97P-D3 Motherboard £59.99
    • Samsung Evo 120GB 850 EVO £52.99
    • Zalman Z11 Plus Midi Tower Case £52.98
    • TP-LINK TL-WN951N £17.98

    Total £570.45 (With Windows)
    Total £490.47 (With Linux)

In the beginning I'm not adding a GPU and a storage drive but I had planned to buy a R9 270X and a WD 1TB Caviar Blue

Let me know what you think :)

Good call on the cpu, a lot of people get i7s for no reason. I think that looks pretty good! Although do you mean DDR3 RAM I hope? DDR RAM is old

This will not HD game if you plan on playing HD Game...

Might sounds simple but you already mentioned new titles and Intel HD will not be compatible with newer HD games so you will need to invest in a good GPU to start here...

Actually this should be a first priority to do get a decent GPU is what I would do when building a system even if you go light gaming to HD gaming.

But as any reply this is my opinion...my nephew uses a PNY GTX770SC to WWW and some COD gaming at HD levels.
