So, I went onto PC part picker and put together a PC based on reviews, etc (I have no actual experience with PC parts and what's considered good or not, I know tech, just not PC parts), and this is what I ended up with

A few things I'm wondering (btw, I'd like to keep it around 1500, but no more than 1600)
1. I had a choice between the 970 or the r9 390. What would you suggest?
2. My previous build was with an r9 390, so the psu has 650w. Now that I currently have a 970 in there, i don't think I need that much power. Any comments on that?
3. Case. I just want a case where you can see the fans light up and a side panel so I can stare at my build. Any other cases out there that might be cheaper? Or should I just pay a few more bucks for the one I have currently? The other cases had either a super small window, or I thought the case fan led's would be blocked, or people reported that the case had terrible cable management, space was tight, etc.
4. speaking of fans, do I need as many fans? My worry was that the case didn't come with any fans, so will 4 fans be enough, or do I only need 2 120mm or 2 140mm or 1 of each.
5. CPU cooler. I don't understand anything about a CPU cooler. All I know is that it keeps the CPU from overheating, which keeps the CPU happy so it won't thermal throttle.
6. Any spots I can save a dollar or two? For example, this is a cheaper case and it gives you what you need, or here's a better mobo (although from what I've read, this mobo seems pretty good, but again, I'm clueless) Oh, and if there's a just a nice RGB keyboard or mouse, tell me. I only got them because I like quality/ durability, and I'll pay a few extra bucks for the RGB features. I like color, makes things interesting...
7. What do you think about the new cherry rapid fire? Or should i just stick with cherry reds?
Thanks for you help, I just want a system that can run games and be as fast as possible.

I would probably go skylake just because you should be able to without too much added cost and it gives you more options down the line.
R9 390 has more VRAM and is better at gaming on higher resolutions so I'd go with that. -
Does the motherboard I picked not work with a skylake chip? It's all grayed our in the filter. Also, what skylake chip would you recommend? I looked at the if 6600kbut it seems to perform worse than the i5 4690k I had previously.

Ah, thank you for the info. I just realized something, pascal is coming out soon, so should I wait for that? Or will it be, probably will be, hella expensive compared to a r9 390

Do you need a new PC now, or can you wait? -
I can wait. To be honest, pascal will be out before I even start getting parts.

Also, for the future, I would not buy so many case fans or such expensive case (unless you totally want it). I would go for a case with $50-100 price tag. They usually already come with two case fans. That saved cash from fans+case I would invest into something like H100i/110i or Kraken X61 to OC that puppy to the max. -

I changed a few things. Specifically the cpu, cooler, new mobo(is it a good one?) less fans since I have the water cooler, ddr4 ram, and a different gpu (again, just for a complete build, will change with pascal). Can you recommend a pc case? I just want one that has a side panel, and you can see the red led fans. Thanks
Update: found a better case
