hey guys my friend keeps telling me to look at 1440p and ive always been set off by the prices of monitors here in Australia(600+) but recently found this gem (and read great reviews on them).
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/321170117957?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
but im wondering is my comp ready for 1440p gaming ?
i dont mind turning graphics down a little would be nice looking for 60fps :)
gta V, witcher 3, DOTA 2(pretty much what i always am playing most of the time) and ill be playing other games once they come out

    i5 4690
Nvidia GTX 970 gigabyte G1 gaming (not oc)
    Gigabyte H97N-WIFI MOBO
    Seagate 3.5" Barracuda 1TB 7200rpm
    G skill 16gb
coolermaster elite 130 mini itx case

You should be fine.. I would personally get a bit more RAM, 8GB is not enough nowadays... Your processor is going to be a bit of a bottleneck, a 4690K which could be overclocked could help but you should be fine for a few years on 1440p with your rig!

thanks for the reply i ment to write 16gb ram :)
i was thinking of going into the i7 range for a upgrade if anything
i prefer not to overclock (being in a minitx format) i cant fit a good cooler in (the low profile ones available to me do nothing according to reviews) that and temps are great as it is
looking at the 4790k :) gonna cost me if i do it.

good to know recon ill beable get ultra settings at 60fps ?

For ultra at 60fps, you'll need a 980 or 980ti tbh... You should do high at least.. CPU wise, get a 4790K, do not get the non K version as you'll just be wasting your money! I have a 4790K and it runs pretty cool in my laptop so even in your build, you will be fine!

Monitor wise, have you got a bit more budget? I suggest the Acer H257U, great frameless monitor and it's IPS + 1440p... Not too much different to the monitor you linked but at least you'll have proper warranty etc..

I wouldn't stuff a 4790K in a mini ITX build. They get hot out of the box, especially with the 4.4GHz turbo. Those chips are meant for enthusiasts with proper cooling.

yeah unfortunately the comp store only has dodgey low profile coolers so i cant get a good one for my mini itx (they ****ed up my order and didnt hold the low profile cooler and ran out of stock)

@Ethrem what u recommend then (nothing out of the extravagantly as **** costs more here)

What I would do is see how your rig performs as it is now. If you're not overclocking, there isn't much of a point in spending the cash on a K series processor. Buying an i7 gets you hyperthreading which has limited use in gaming. I have a 4790K and its a hot little chip. It's not as hot as my 4770k was but it still needs liquid cooling if I don't want 80+ degrees.

    Get a water cooler.

Depends on the game, but you can forget about 2015 AAA games (aka above mentioned TW3 and GTA V) straight away. MGS V should run fine though :D.

The i7-4790K that are on the market now seem to be of much higher quality then the inital ones.. Mine does a -50mV undervolt on core and -40mV undervolt on cache and I can turbo to 4.5 on 1 core and 4.4 on the other cores with no issues.. I do run at around 85-90C which is fine if you ask me..

Can you get one of those Corsair H series coolers from amazon or something? Also monitor wise, you'll be fine with either one.. I do have to say though in the UK, this monitor goes for around 500 AUD and was at one point around 430 lol...

problem is its damn hot here in australia so 85-89 there proberly equels 95ish here which is way to hot for my liking i dont like anything more than 85 even 80 is iffy for me.

no no amazon here same with ebay cant find a resonably priced one.
found a monitor https://www.pccasegear.com/products/33343/acer-h257hu-25in-wqhd-ips-led-monitor really good pricing is aussie so its great for warranty :). gonan check if its dead pixel / blending warranty/garunteed .

gonna wait til i do my next build for water cooling wont be for 3- 5 years as i am very happy with this comp. i will overclock my 970 g1 gaming as the case puts it right next to the exausht and it runs amazingly cool :)

Let's see I do have some parts similiar to yours here.
    MSI GTX 970OC 4G
    Asrock Extreme6
    Crucial 256G SSD
    GSkill 16gig
PS forget the brand name 750 80%
    Cosair 750D Full tower.
    i5-4960K OC @4.2ghz
    Coolermaster 212 cooler
Asus 2560x1440 - 27" monitor - have to admit at the resolution games looks nice but Windows desktop is huge sand spaced out.

My GTX970 fan doesn't run til I run my games - glad for that but I don't play the likes of Crysis 3 but Pillars of Eternity at high max resolution so that pushes the GPU fan a bit but most part the GPU is quiet only the CPU fan and case fans are running. I would think you should try to get a Coolermaster 212 if you can mine is working pretty good. But for 1440 I think your GPU should work since my GPU can run Pillars of Eternity at 1440 on the Asus. The monitor isn't cheap but does the work-though it is heavy but I also plugged on the DisplayPort not the dvi or hdmi. So that might be something you want to consider using the DP not Hdmi or DVI plug to get the best output. And so far running DP I haven't notice any problems. So this is my experience so far playing at 2560x1440 on Asus 27" DP with MSI GTX970OC 4G card.

hey thanks for the reply as mentioned im running a mini itx so there isnt a posibility for me to run a coolermaster 212 i can only fit low profiles in (which dont work). thanks fot he information though. i ended up buying the Acer G257HU (got it extremely cheap from amazon :D )

that being said i dont htink pillars of Eternity is too requiring. that being said there is videos of people running GTA V at the 1440p resolution on high (not ultra aside textures ) but dota 2 will be fine as it doesnt require much at all :).

should be here by the 2nd for me :D cant wait

I know Pillar of Eternity might not push it but having a bigger view make it look nicer and it does push the pixels at the 1440 setting but I like the eye candy it gives. The monitor was a Asus PB278Q monitor. The previous owner said he didn't use it much but it look great.
