I am reviving an older M90p 3853 thinkcenter and am having an issue with HDMI audio from the integrated Intel graphics (display port).
After a fresh install of win7 and SP1, HDMI video and audio are workign with my Tv. Netflix, Amazon, and youtube video work great in Firefox but VLC video is grainy. HDMI audio works well across the whole system.
VLC video looks grainy (also aero doesn't work, etc), so I downloaded and installed the lenovo intel itegrated display driver (8.15.10.2202) from the product support/downloads page and now the video looks great in VLC and aero works but there is no longer audio over HDMI. Audio is now only played from the built in ThinkCentre speaker.
I have checked the audio output devices but the HDMI audio option says no device is connected to the HDMI and I can not select it.
I have also tried the same driver version direct from intel's downloads page.
I have also tried allowing windows update to install the updated MS driver from WUD, with the same behavior.
I have also tried installing the realtek HD audio driver; installing this driver completely removes the HDMI audio option from the audio output devices window.
In all cases, uninstalling the video driver returns audio over HDMI without specifying any settings, but of course the video looks grainy in VLC again.
How do I install the Intel Integrated video driver to increase my video performancewhile maintaining my HDMI audio connection?
FYI, the M90p in question is an i5 650, what is considered "pre-generation".
I am using the Intel Integrated Graphics controller with display port, a DVI to hdmi adapter, and an HDMI cable to my TV. Video and audio work with stock W7 drivers but no audio with any drivers that get me better video resolution.

<SOLVED> <mostly>
I installed the intel driver package, rolled back the driver in dev manager, fired up msconfig and unchecked any intel display software from startup, and rebooted.
Now, I'm getting crystal clear video decoding in VLC, though it's still a bit jitterry.
