So I'm building a new desktop, and while I have a 23" LG 23MP75 IPS panel, I'm thinking of upgrading to something newer/better (though not necessarily bigger).
I found these two
AOC G2460PG 24" G-SYNC ($455 CAD)
1920x1080
144Hz
350nits
TN panel
Dell Ultrasharp 25" U2515H ($399 CAD)
2560x1440
60Hz
350nits
IPS panel
I also have a Dell $51 gift card, so that makes the Ultrasharp a full $100 cheaper.
Any thoughts? I mean there are TONS of displays out there, but these two stood out. The AOC is the cheapest G-SYNC available, and the Ultrasharp is...well, an Ultrasharp with 1440p (there is a 1980x1200 Ultrasharp available too, for $30 less).
Or any other ideas regarding monitors under $400 CAD?

Which one would you prefer?
Those two are complete opposites of each other. On one hand you have a high refresh rate Gsync monitor but with a TN panel, on the other IPS high res monitor with 60 Hz refresh rate. Solely for gaming AOC looks like a winner (though you might need to read reviews on how actually good it is). FHD + 970 is a combo made in heaven. Dell however looks like a better "all arounder", if you need not only to play games but also do other stuff (I myself have a U2412M).
Now, you already have a IPS LG monitor, probably it would be smart to get that AOC and run those two puppies together

How do you like your Ultrasharp monitor? It's currently on sale, was having a glance at it.

Coming from 1366*768 16" monitor it's awesome, though PPI is kinda on the same level. Overall a great all arounder for study, gaming, watching movies, photo editing. And I love 16:10 form factor!
But in your case, you already have a 23" IPS monitor, not sure it would make a smart buy. -
Well, the Dell here is a 1440p Ultrasharp with 350nits brightness and 99% sRGB - that would definitely be an upgrade. I'm just not sure if it isn't too big, since I sit pretty close to my monitor. I'm also not sure if my GTX 970 can push all those pixels adequately. I've read conflicting reviews - some people say the 970 is fine for high settings at 1440p, while others say it isn't. I know it can't do Ultra, but I never game at ultra anyway.
I already ordered it, should be here Monday or Tuesday. If I don't like it I'll return it.
The other Dell Ultrasharps might be a decent upgrade - brighter, better colour-space coverage and 1920*1200 resolution. -

Oh, I thought you wanted to get 2412 when you asked me about it.
It will actually depend on the games and how much FPS do you want from 970 on 1440p. -
I'm OK with 60FPS, since that's the refresh rate anyway.

Well, 60FPS could be a bit too much (taking into account modern day AAA titles), but we are talking high settings, so it should be plausible.
