An air cooled AMD card? No thanks. It will either be screaming loud or it will spontaneously combust.![]()

Just avoid the reference blower and you'll be fine. The custom coolers from AIBs do a pretty decent job.
-
Who is the best manufacturer for AMD cards anyway? I've only ever owned ATi and Sapphire branded cards.
-
Dunno about best, but XFX, Sapphire, MSI, Asus, and Gigabyte are some of the most popular ones.Ethrem likes this.

Lol... Nvidia should pack up? I needed a good laugh this Saturday evening.
-
Glad you enjoyed my joke.
What octi said. Although I'd personally avoid Asus due to their legendarily bad RMA rep. And if I'm not mistaken XFX and Sapphire only offer 2 year warranties for most cards, while Asus, MSI and Gigabyte offer 3.
If you mean build quality then I think MSI's Lightning cards are usually regarded as the best.Ethrem likes this. -
Well now we just play the waiting game to see what happens...
-
As far as non-reference coolers go Sapphire is the best, even beating the MSI Lightning.
-
@n=1 XFX offers a single user lifetime warranty if you register within 30 days of purchase. Some ppl call XFX the AMD EVGA.
-
^I thought that was discontinued after the HD7000 series no?
Yeah the Vapor-X is pretty good. And as bad as PowerColor is as a brand, their PCS+ cooler is actually extremely well-built. -
It was a double user (original buyer and one subsequent owner) lifetime warranty prior to the HD 7000 Series. After, it was changed to single user lifetime warranty.
-
Ok so I looked it up, seems like the lifetime warranty is only offered to Double Dissipation edition cards or those with a 10-digit model numbers.
-
All of their dual-fan cards are DD
bewbs -
Yeah about that name...
On a more serious note, yeah it's nice for those who buy the covered models and intend to keep their cards past 3 years, but knowing myself, it's mostly useless for me. -
^Because sex sells everything, including graphics cards apparently. Just look at old GPU box art and tech demos.
-
You mean those with Ruby plastered all over? I think she made a scene in 3DMark2001's demo, but I remember seeing way more dragons, skulls, and other uhh, rather muscular ogres on those ATi boxes back in the days lol. I think she appeared more frequently on the All-In-Wonder boxes, but my memory is way too fuzzy now.
On that note Sapphire should just man up and call their Tri-X cards XXX Edition cards.
-
Ruby still here, breh. Now she got TressFX on dat hair.
Oh and don't forget:

Ira was a creepy demo indeed.
I liked Mad Mod Mike though. -
Now I finally know who that mysterious mermaid is on those 6800 Ultra coolers lol
-
I remember running Mad Mod Mike when I got my 7800 GT. Meh. 60 FPS in Far Cry maxed out at 1280x1024 was far more impressive. Only gripe was GeForce 7 Series couldn't do HDR and AA at the same time grrr.Ethrem likes this.

My 7800GT died and I got a 7950GT from EVGA on exchange...
I just ran Mad Mod Mike... Did you know its an OpenGL demo? lol -
Back before OpenGL fell off the face of the earth...
Yeah I had no idea. I assumed DX9. Not like we had MSI Afterburner back then to tell us what API was running. All we had was FRAPS.Ethrem likes this. -
It's not going away any time soon. Plenty of things depend on it.
It's just not very relevant for PC gaming anymore. Unless Mac/Linux get more popular as gaming machines for whatever reason (they do seem to have more following than before in indie), it will be limited to mobile for gamers.Last edited: May 31, 2015 -

I'm just gonna say this right now. IF Fiji XT isn't a total bombshell and take nVidia by surprise, you best check the card inside out to make sure "6GB means 6GB" if you catch my drift. -
The 390X is literally poking its PCB right around the corner...
-
What about the inevitable 6GB full GM200 card?
Also, pricing on the 980 Ti pretty much confirms that 390X will be one hell of a card. -
Either that, or like I said it will have some nasty, unexpected special feature.
-
It will be a few months before i can pick anything up anyway so I will wait and see what happens. I found out that the radiator for the 295x2 and presumably the 390X would fit perfectly fine with my NZXT Phantom 410 so my options are all open.
-
Figured they'd just re-brand the Titan X. It's impressive at $650.
-
Hmmm something fishy is going on here: http://anandtech.com/show/9306/the-nvidia-geforce-gtx-980-ti-review/14
In the Vantage texture fill test, 980 Ti loses to Titan X by the expected margin given its reduction in TMUs.
However, in pixel fill (a synthetic ROP/memory bandwidth test), 980 Ti loses to Titan X by more than its supposedly identical ROP/MC config would suggest, which the reviewer noted:
If you weren't aware, months before the 970 fiasco came to light, one of the early smoking guns was this article by Tech Report. They also observed an interesting anomaly between the pixel fill rates of the 970 and 980, but the explanation they were given (disabled SMMs) didn't fully explain the large disparity because everyone at the time still believed the ROP/MC config was unchanged between 970 and 980.
Would be interesting to see any further developments on this aspect of the 980 Ti, and @n=1 I know you'd get a kick out of this.

Sure hope those 2 on the bottom are a pricing error. $99,999.00 seems quite expensive for this card. -
Looks like it was already fixed to me. Highest priced card is 679.99 other than the Titan Black below it.
