I am currently looking for a Desktop below 1.000€ that can handle both demanding games at good quality settings (1080p) and video editing. I didn't find any good pre-build Desktop so i guess i have to built it myself, even if it would be my first time (is it too hard?).

    This is the build:

    1) CPU: Intel i7 6700K - 360€
    2) MOTHERBOARD: Msi B85-G43 GAMING ATX 1150 Motherboard - 98,52€
    3) GPU: Zotac GeForce GTX 970 4GB (3.5GB+0.5GB) , DDR5, 256 Bit - 262€ [or Sapphire 21260-00-20G - AMD, RX 480 1085 MHz 8 GB, PCI Expess - 320€ (it can go down to 260€) or Asus 90YV09Q0-M0NA00 GTX 1060, 6 GB GDDR5 (when it will be close to 300€)]
    4) RAM: Corsair CMK16GX4M2A2133C13R Vengeance LPX 16 GB, 2x8 GB DDR4, 2133 MHz, CL13 XMP 2.0 - 72,68€
    5) MONITOR: Asus VX239H Monitor 23'', FHD (1920x1080), IPS, Frameless, Flicker Free, Low Blue Light - 156,07€
    6) CASE: This is really confusing me, why some of them are so cheap and others more expensive? Aerocool Aero-500 Gaming Case - 34€ (or Fractal Design Define R5 - 110€)
    7) HDD: Seagate Desktop ST2000DM001, 6 Gbit/s, 2 TB, 7200 RPM, 64MB Cache, SATA III - 64,98€ (it's the cheaper one)
    8) SSD: Samsung 750 EVO SSD, 250GB - 69,99€
    9) WIFI: i don't really know what to pick up. Maybe TP-LINK TL-WN881ND PCI Express Wireless N 300 Mbps - 18,49€
    10) OPTICAL DRIVE: TSSTcorpCDDVDW SH-224FB - 13,50€
    11) PSU: Corsair VS450, CP-9020096-EU 450 Watt Plus 80 - 40,99€
    12): KEYBOARD: Logitech K120 Keyboard USB - 13,99€

    (I already have the mouse)

    TOTAL: 1,205,15 €

Let me know if i forgot anything.
It's still not the best build out there but it should be good enough. But since i am on budget, how can i lower the cost down to 1.000€?

    Thanks in advance!

This build is a bit of a mess. Do you want me to make a new list for you? The cpu is way way overkill for gaming, its wasting a lot of your budget. The motherboard also doesn't work with that cpu. The B85 chipset only works with 4th gen intel i series processors. There are a few other weird choices in here, the ssd doesn't seem like a great price although I'll double check it with your currency, and I could save you money on ram and probably get you a better gpu. For hard drives, I would always choose western digital over seagate as they are much more reliable. Your monitor choice is pretty decent, and you have the right idea here, a lot of your parts are very close to good chioces. The cpu is the main one screaming out to me, as a 1070 and an i5 6600k or something is a MUCH better gaming build.

    Edit:

Here: I made a new list around the same budget:

The 1070 is like twice as good as a 970, that'll perform way way better.

Thanks for the list, it's really interesting and i like it but it's not on my budget. It costs 1.443€ (1.203£ , due also to more taxes here in Italy). Without the GPU it costs 920€ so i think we need to change it for sure. I chose the i7 6700K 'cause it has hyperthreading which is really usefull for video editing, while on gaming it's the same as the i5 6600K. But why do i need a CPU cooler if the CPU has one itself? Is it not enough?

Btw 1000€ is 833£ so maybe changing the gpu we can go close to it.

    i agree with Galm17.

i would downgrade the CPU to an i5 with an aftermarket CPU cooler and just overclock it. the stock Intel fan is loud and inefficient.

i think u can find cheaper RAM and SSD then allocate that money into a 1070 or maybe SLI 1060's.

Sorry I'll redo it, I only briefly looked at your currency, for some reason I was assuming pounds not euros. I guess I'm too used to mostly british people asking for advice from abroad lol.

    Edit:
Here's one in the correct currency:

So a few things to note. I don't know what the 1060 price is in your country but that's what you want to shoot for, its around the performance of the GTX 980. The case you can ignore along with the wifi card, I just needed to get the right price for those parts, as pcpartpicker seemed to have a lot of prices missing. That's why I manually filled in the 1060 price as they don't seem to have any listed anywhere yet. So find whatever you want for a case, and any wifi card is fine though look for one with ac coverage.

I am worried about the gpu. The 1070 should cost nowhere near 900 euros, more like 550. Additionally, the i7 would be benificial for video editing, but a quad core i5 would still be good, so it depends on how much of that you do. The r9 390 maybe a better card to go for (or preferably the RX 480) if you need the hyperthreading.

Double Edit: Also that ssd was fine :p You maybe able to save a few bucks with another brand, but its priced similar to most competition in Europe so that was a good choice.

Also definitely get the psu I listed, you don't want a bad psu to save money it could destroy your build. Its one of the things you should never skimp on. As for the cpu cooler, the stock one stinks, but geez the 30 dollar hyper evo 212 cost like 120 euros which is terrible, so I left it out.

You could be right I only have anecdotal experience, but the stock ones I worked with ran quite hot. Like 80C under load for a cpu, a 212 evo should keep it like 15 degrees cooler than that.

If you don't mind noise the stock cooler is fine, and that's one thing you can always upgrade later if it annoys you. Also, if you're in the same room with your router, consider an ethernet cable instead of a USB WLAN. You'll open a port up, and cut down on problems with your internet connection, and if you've already got the cable, save some money.

Thank you so much, really! :)
    I managed to find everything on Amazon but couldn't find the Crucial RAM so i changed it to G.Skill Ripjaws V - DDR4 - RAM 16 GB : 2 x 8 GB - DIMM 288-PIN - 2400 MHz / PC4-19200 - CL15 for 76,54€ (but it's 2400Mhz).
The GTX 1060 is way too much expensive here, still above 370€.

    My actual options are:
    1) MSI Nvidia GeForce GTX 960 4GD5T OC 4GB for 206€
    2) Zotac GeForce GTX 970 4GB (3.5GB+0.5GB) for 263€
    3) Sapphire 21260-00-20G - AMD, RX 480 1085 MHz 8 GB, PCI Expess for 290€

Everything on the list should cost 1007.00€ (with the 960), which would be awesome. The only trouble now is the GPU.

Also is this the PSU you suggest? https://www.amazon.it/gp/product/B01AKWVTVQ/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A11IL2PNWYJU7H

EDIT: I think i may need also a Thermal Paste for the CPU/GPU and an OS (probably Windows 10).

@Tanner@XoticPC I don't mind noise and no, i am not in the same room with the router (but i already have an ethernet cable).

That's a good psu. As for the graphics card, probably the RX 480 is your best bet. The extra VRAM will let it last longer than the 970 and it benefits more than the 970 on Vulkan and DirectX 12. They are both very close though and I think you'd be pretty happy with either, but I would recommend the RX 480. The 960 is a clear step down in performance but is still not bad.

i would also go with the RX480 if those are your only choices.

u can get another one later on down the road and have almost GTX 1080 performance with 2 RX480's.

Agreed, the RX480 is your best choice OP... It will be futureproof and performance advantages in newer games will definitely become more apparent as more DX12 games are released where the RX480 really shines compared to those Maxwell cards!
