I have heard a lot of horror stories about ORIGIN PC about delays in processing the orders or systems arriving to customers after a long wait not working out of the box where they had to send it back for repair!

I talked with one of their managers and he assured me that is not the norm as their systems go through a lot of quality checks before being sent out.

So let me share my experience with you and keep y'all updated about my experience

    17-June-2015 = Order Placed

19-June-2015 = Email received from ORIGIN stating that my payment is approved and they will tweet to me the progress of building my system. Estimated shipping date is the 3rd of July 2015

22-June-2015 = Email sent to my international account manager telling her that I am concerned that this is an expensive system and worried that it might arrived not working well due to the horror stories I read on the ORIGIN PC forums

22-June-2015 = Email within a couple of hours from the international sales rep advising me that since this is a top end system and an international order, they will do their utmost best to double check everything to ensure it is in proper working order

28-June-2015 = Email to my account manager asking what is the status of my system build as I still haven't received any update as to what the status of my system build is.

29-June-2015 = Just got an email from my account manager explaining that she sent a request to the engineer(s) to check what the status is.

29-June-2015 = Got another email within 15 mins from my account manager informing me that the motherboard is arriving this afternoon and the unit should be in testing today or tomorrow.

02-July-2015 = Email from my account manager informing me that my system is at the integration department where they are building the system then stress testing it for stability which would take 2-5 business days to complete.

09-July-2015 = Email to my account manager asking what is the status of my system build and what is the expected shipping date as I was initially promised it would be shipped out on the 3rd of July.

09-July-2015 = Email from my account manager within a few minutes advising me that firstly, they did put the latest X-99 Deluxe motherboard with USB 3.1 Support in my system even though I had ordered the regular one during my order as the latter wasn't available at that time, very nice gesture.

10-July-2015 = Email from my account manager with the shipment tracking number, expected delivery date is the 16th of July.

That's a lot of money... have you tried to check the cost of a similar config that you can build your self?

Yeah good lord this^^, that's waaaaayyyy cheaper to build yourself. The i7 5930k is basically the same as the i7 5820k, there is no need to upgrade, the clock speed and number of pins are the only difference and you aren't doing quad sli. I have a 980 ti sli build right now on pcpartpicker that has liquid cooling for under $2,500. Given I don't have the same specs, you could probably make that build yourself for like 4000-4500.

no, you never tell an Alienware owner he could have built this cheaper himself. Origin PC = the older high performance Alienware that we all loved. Yes I pay a premium, but I get quality, a unique case, superb cable management, saving me the hassle of doing it myself since I have way better things to do. Once I have it built, then I can upgrade it when the time comes but for a start, I'd like to have it done by pros if you know what I mean

I only went with the 5930K for the extra PCIe Lanes. True it's not needed for my Dual SLI setup but keep in mind that I have an Intel 750 PCIe SSD in there so I do want the full bandwidth for it as well. That's why I went with the 5930K and the ASUS X-99 Deluxe motherboard rather than the Rampage V extreme because the X-99 has 16x PCIe speeds across all slots not just 2 like with the Rampage V.

I guess that makes some sense... but man I could never justify an extra 4 grand for professional assembly. You could build that rig twice over and still have money left over.

If you lived in Dubai bro, you would......

    1) As I said, I can't be arsed to do it myself, order each part individually, then wait for 1 to 2 weeks till the parts arrive, then start building the system which I haven't done in 15 years so I'd have to sit and research, I really have no mood to start from scartch. I would like to play around with the system once I get it as I said and upgrade it but no mood to start from scratch.

    2) The other cheaper option and by cheaper I mean I can build the system for like 2K cheaper if I let a local computer shop build it for me, the problem with that here is, they are muppets, I wouldn't trust anyone in Dubai to wash my car, let alone build my PC. They have no idea what those braided cables are, cable management, forget it! I asked about the modular bay to be able to hot swap 5 HDDs like in the ORIGIN PC they had no clue what is that. Lighting tubes in the case, they didn't have and wanted to order, so it all turned me off really.

I hope you understand my situation it was not purely a choice but a shortcut to building a system plus to have the case I want plus cable management + modular bay + all the components

OHH, and they didn't have the Intel 750 PCIe SSD so me ordering from the US and paying custom fees would still bump up the price in the end, believe me it would end up almost the same.

I did some reading into Origin after I read this thread I actually quite like what they are doing. Seems like these 3 founders are trying to regrow the spirit of Alienware.

I do like there desktop system and they even export to the UK might go with them next time.

Indeed, I was at a loss as to what system to buy after Alienware died. I like the idea of having a fancy case and super configurations + the ability to upgrade.

Just keep following this thread as I update the order progress, benchmarks, unboxing, etc.

Meanwhile, to see how great the packaging comes and the excellent cable management, please watch this video:

    I have got it watched.

nice cable management. See I really like the way they package the system it all add's to the moment. Something I feel some companies have lost as it really doesn't cost much more to give a sense of theatre to the 1000's of £'s you just dropped on it.

I am looking forward to your system.

I was promised frequent updates as to how the progress on building my system goes via e-mail and Twitter. So far we're on the 26th of June that's 10 days from me ordering my high end expensive system and I have no clue what's going on, not one update, it's like I'm sitting in the dark here. I hope the next email I get doesn't say that my shipment date has been delayed due to bla bla bla. Definitely not the kind of service I expect from a high end boutique system builder.

The only e-mail communication was with special requests I asked for but nothing regarding the progress of how my build is going.

You mentioned one of your reasons for ordering such an overpriced desktop as you just hit click and order and boom its delivered.

I did the same thing with my own custom built desktop X99 5820k and 970 system. I selected my parts after I researched and deliberated with what my own needs were, and ordered with overnight shipping from Newegg. Parts arrived the next day, I put the desktop together within a few hours and was up an running/gaming by that afternoon.

I had not built a desktop in probably 4 years, but it was all pretty much the same and standard build.

Seriously though that system is way overpriced and insane. As pointed out you could have built that much much cheaper yourself.

How does the warranty work? Do they send a tech to your place in Dubai? Do you have to ship it back international shipping to be fixed?

With a custom build you would have had manufacturer warranty for individual parts and could have swapped just that part.

Still the same advice: cancel while you still can, and build it yourself.

I know you said you don't want to start from scratch, but honestly it sounds like even if you just took the time to piece it together yourself day by day, your rig would still be up and running faster than if you'd gone through any boutique builder.

A bit too late, as I was about to call them to ask whatever happened to the Twitter and constant email updates they promised I got an email in reply to my previous email sent asking them to ensure that they update the BIOS on the X-99 Deluxe to the latest before doing the overclocking and to arrange two 2.5" to 3.5" bays for me yo easily connect my 960GB SanDisk Extreme PRO SSDs once I receive my system and they said that has been forwarded to the engineers and they always ensure they have the latest drivers + BIOS before shipping out a system.

That is a great build. However, I think you should be getting about 2 years warranty for the amount involved. Enjoy the system

Don't care about warranty since I won't use it. I won't bother sending part to the US from Dubai, paying an arm and a leg for shipping, waiting for weeks, I'd just rather go and buy a replacement part if anything fails.

Nice specs you're getting, gotta love that overclocked 980 Ti :)

Let me know what you think of the Intel 750 when you get yours... I just pulled mine out and sent it back to Amazon. It benchmarks fast, I mean fast 2890 read on my system but on 1560 write. Issue though it really makes no difference for loading and gaming. It does help with 4k video edit and streaming but honestly my raid 0 ssd's load bf4 maps 6-7 seconds faster and windows boots hell of a lot faster on raid 0 ssd's. Windows boot time is extremely slow on the NVME platform right now.The Intel 750 I've determined is good for video editing and good scratch disk, not a main drive or gaming drive.. Your better off with a 2tb Samsung 850 pro for cheaper...

Thanks for that info @pathfindercod I have a PM951 coming with my system I wonder how it will perform compared to RAID0 Did you make your raid under hardware or within windows with IRST? for your games drives?

Dang, not what I was hoping to hear.

Anyway, I will let you know once my system arrives next week. Worst case scenario, I'll use it as a secondary drive but the good news is Intel are aware of the issue and promised to release a new NVME Driver to help with the slow boot issue as many are complaining on their forum.

The PM951 is one of the best drive out there, fast boot and RAID like performance on a single SSD.

That's awesome. I've got that exact same white NZXT in my Amazon cart but the case is might be a touch long for my desk. My desk is 45cm (17.75 inches) length and the case is 47.6 (18.7 inches)

The feet are actually set in from the edges of the cases. Outer edge of one foot to outer edge of the other foot is 42CM so it should fit fine just a little over hang maybe.
