Ordered the parts for my first gaming desktop. Do I have everything I need?

Is the PSU going to be enough?

I would personally go for something bigger. A quality 500W-600W would be better.

 

That's what I was thinking. Would that be enough for SLI in the future?

For 970 SLI I would straight up go for 750W, though I'm not sure that mobo supports it (it has however Crossfire support).
I also personally wouldn't bother with SLI, but that's just me. Better just to get a new same class GPU few years later. But if you have money for 970 SLI, why not go for 980ti? If I'm not mistaken, on paper one 980ti loses to two 970, but 980ti performance is much more stable.

Also, for your power consumption needs, try building your rig on PCParPicker to see what kind of power draw you can expect. Add 100-150W for safety measures and voila, that's the wattage you need.

I avoid AMD like a plague espically if you want to hard core Game...iNtel Boards all the way.

Make sure it is the 4G version.....I got that and love it..would go SLI but slots are taken over...

I would get a 500gig SSD and use the 3tb HDD as storage. If budget get 256Gig Main and that will more then hold your O/S and installed programs.

So far they are performing better then my Corsair case fans.

Don't GET AMD get Intel i7 skylake or 2011v3 those will do you more. If you can't affored this then go for 1150 boards with i5 or i7 processor and if you decide to OC the CPU then get something like i5-4690K this allows you to OC it. That way you don't loose so much going Skylake upgrade if this is cost prohibited.

I go for 16gig but get the board that has DDR4 is the latest Memory coming out. I guess in your range then DDR3 is still good but get 16gig anything over is overkill unless your doing CAD/Multimedia/Server or large massive files transfers. I have 16gig DDR3 and still have 11gigs free to use.

This has worked fine for me.

I got a Corsair 750D full tower if you plan on HDD expansions but a mid tower unless you go SLI then you need to consider that as well.

I got this and I love it....it is tricky to get installed so read Instructions well...I got i5-4690K at 4.2ghz

I wouldnt go under 750W for a brand name PSU.....Unless you do SLI then look at the PSU output for GPU SLI.

Trust me you won't be disappointed going Intel you have far better CPU upgrade options in the future with your board compared to AMD. I learned that the hard way. You can get a less expensive iNtel in i5 1150 socket and that will more then less beat out any new AMD has to offer. Plus if you decide to sell the board and components you have far better chances to sell the iNtel hardware as opposed to AMD to use towards upgrades.

16Gigs Crucial Ballistix Sport XT 8GB DDR3-1866, I have four of these for dual channel operations-good for OC operations.
Board: Asrock Extreme6
Cooler: CoolerMaster 212
GPU: MSI GTX970 OC 4G
PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA NEX750G 750 Watt ATX 12V Power Supply

With the older 1150 board and DDR3 memory setup your system will still be able to upgrade to i7 if needs be in the future and still be able to beat out any AMD has to offer. But this is from my experience building system and trials/errors.

And in the End this choice is yours to make. Just giving my best good advice to those willing to listen and not make my mistakes.

Eh, I game just fine on my (stock) FX-6300 (paired with the r9 280x).

But yes, AM3+ is pretty dead. Thankfully, that makes them a decent bit cheaper.
