Picked up a Pavilion Gaming Desktop over Memorial Day stupid cheap on eBay. I'm well aware of the non-standard power delivery which is going to limit my options to 65W and under. My question is why isn't the I9-9900 listed as being supported? My first guess must be power delivery when boosted but the 9900T isn't listed either. It just feels silly buying a 9700 for 2 more cores and no SMT. I just don't know if there's a microcode limitation or whether it is in fact power related rail wise. Anyone here attempted this using a 9900T or an ES and can confirm if it'll boot?

Because the real power usage of those while boosting will be way above 65W, more like 120W+ and that motherboard will have some bottom tier VRMs that wont support that and you get either an unstable system or a nice fireworks show.
Pavilion 690-0073w CPU Upgrades? 9900T?
