on what core voltage You have that 5.1?

You can get a GA-Z170-HD3 for that, or a Z170A Gaming M7 (Gigabyte and MSI respectively). Both should support OC. -
M7 seems to be a bit over budget.
And what about Asus z170 pro gaming? it seems to have best cpu power section -

Not a bad choice, I just listed my go-to board makers. -
I usually bring the OC back to 5.0 for my gaming sessions as it's not usually running at %100.

Yes, also at 5.1, I just don't like to be above 1.4V if I don't have to, as far as BF1 goes there is little difference between the two.
Yes, I also Delidded it which made 5.1 possible, before that I was getting way too hot for comfort. I posted my experience here.

You've got the same approach as me - not going above 1.4V, I think that's a good move. Some people say up to 1.45V, but I think 1.45V is pushing it for long term use.DukeCLR likes this. -
Update for the card.
Arriving Wednesday.

Cant wait You put it on Your rig, Lets see how it will OCedCodenamefa likes this.

Well if it is anything like the cpu, it should be nothing short of spectacular. Also the tracking updated and said it should be here Tomorrow by end of day....
The moment I put the video card in tho.... I'm gonna be like Terri Cruz getting down on some gaming.

Congrats on the new card! Have you had a chance to OC it yet? Is your CPU running ok, because your Firestrike Physics score is a bit low for a 4.8Ghz overclock - I'm at 4.7Ghz & getting about 5% higher score? (maybe you had some stuff/software running in the background while you were running the test?).Last edited: May 24, 2017DukeCLR likes this. -
This is monster madness, specialy compared to old 970
On that H115i You are able to put 4.8 with stock vcore stable?

Yeah it runs just fine with that in there, I have considered doing a custom loop but that might be later on down the road when I have decided enough isn't enough.
Ya it hasn't misbehaved, some scores are different than others, reality is it runs it and does what I need, I might try a little higher on the clocks and give it another go, but as it stands this is very good, as for overclock the 1080 Ti, I can get 6000 on the memory, for core clock I haven't quite perfected it yet, it seems that they really did squeeze every ounce out of the 1080 Ti aftermarkets, the highest I have gotten is 87+ on the core. -
Robbo99999 Notebook Prophet
Yep, I've heard in reviews that there's not much left on the table in terms of core overclocking on some of these aftermarket 1080ti's. There was something up with your system or the stuff that was running in the background when you did your 3DMark Firestrike run though, because although Physics scores will vary a little, they don't vary by 5 or more percent, so might be worth looking into to see what's eating your CPU cycles or if your CPU is 'behaving itself'.
EDIT: at 4.8Ghz you should be getting in the region of 15500 Physics score (if I extrapolate from my own 4.7Ghz score), and you're only getting 14350 Physics score, so you're about 8% short of the score you should be at for 4.8Ghz - or another way of looking at it your CPU in that Firestrike run was performing the same as a 4.4Ghz CPU, you lost 400Mhz of performance, that's a big difference. Hopefully it was just a one off & you had something running in the background eating CPU cycles. (or maybe you have crazy low RAM timings or haven't overclocked your cache of your CPU yet - but I'm pretty sure that those two things won't account for the 8% discrepancy).Last edited: May 24, 2017 -
Well so far I have gathered something is causing my 3dmarks to not complete properly, I think it's due to the latest windows 10 update. I think once I get done training for this new job i'm going to spend an afternoon backing up everything and reinstalling this OS and eliminating the insider stuff.

Let me know if you need help tweaking your system and we can do it over teamviewer
1- Uninstallation of all the Windows Store Garbage Apps
2- Removing all Windows 10 Privacy Invasion stuff like Telemetry, sending your keystrokes to Microsoft, automatically installing suggested apps in the background, allowing Microsoft to conduct experiments on your laptop, disabling automatic driver updates through Windows updates, disabling Windows 10 ads, disabling cortana, etc.
3- Removal of nVIDIA and Intel Telemetry
4- Adjusting a lot of options in PC Settings like disabling Windows Tablet Mode , disabling suggestions appearing in the start menu, disabling automatically connecting to Paid WiFi Hotspots, disabling Game DVR which reduced performance in games, and a lot more.
5- Replacing Cortana with a much better search tool that finds results instantly
6- Restoring the classic Windows 7 Calculator and Windows Photo Viewer
7- Restoring the Classic Windows 7 Start Menu

(Although none of those tweaks are there to solve a performance problem - they're just Windows 10 'adjustments' you're doing there. Just saying, because to the uninitiated they might think your tweaks are there to solve the performance problem he's seeing.) -
You missed or misunderstood bro @Phoenix intention with offering his tweaks. Re-read @Codenamefa's reply one more time
And for the
3DM bench problems... Futuremark have pushed out a lot trash since last summer... Download latest

Ok, fair enough, I was just pointing out that those Windows 10 tweaks don't solve performance problems. -
The more yoo can disable of unwanted trash the better. And for the records... How many have had peformance problems due forced driver updates? Aka one of @Phoenix's Windoze tweaks "disabling automatic driver updates through Windows updates". WILL or shall we say CAN" solve performance problems

Yeah, but CPU performance problems on the scale that the original poster was experiencing is not due to a vanilla Windows 10 install, because as you know if you read my earlier posts from days/weeks ago I used my CPU (installed on vanilla Windows 10) as a means of comparison to determine that his 4.8Ghz CPU was performing like a 4.4Ghz CPU in terms of CPU score - so a vanilla Windows 10 install is not the cause of his problems. Ok, maybe he needs to reinstall his OS to solve some of the problems or maybe it's something else, either way he doesn't NEED a modded Windows 10 install along the lines of Phoenix's proposal to gain good performance - it's just not necessary from a performance perspective; could be necessary from a privacy & aesthetic point of view if you don't like the whole Windows 10 thing - but that's another story!
Phoenix's i7 6700k Lives on...
