- Don't bother
- A trivial upgrade
- Helpful but not huge

Well..... This is what brings people here for the real info I suppose. It's all about priorities though when it comes down to nuts and bolts.

As they say...
Clamibot, Papusan, electrosoft and 1 other person like this. -
StormJumper Notebook Virtuoso
1. Don't bother
2. A trivial upgrade
3. Helpful but not huge
4. A very meaningful upgrade
5. One of the best upgrades you can make
5. Upgrading your GPU (4.43)-depends on what upgrade means???
1. 60 Hz monitor ➡ GSync, 144Hz+ monitor (4.36)-has to be true 144 not overscan or interlace
2. 1080p to 1440p resolution (4.29)-human eyes can't difference the different what you should decide is what is that screen size on that will matter more.
1. Upgrading your desk (3.86)-upgrade to what?
1. Adding a secondary monitor (3.86)-unless your spanning it's a good waste of good money.
1. Upgrading your chair (3.79)
2. Getting a better keyboard (3.73)
5. Upgrading your CPU (3.64)-it has to be 2x the original to make and show a return performance
3. Doubling your storage space (3.43)-unless your hording data bigger isn't better
3. Getting a better mouse (3.40)-depends what kinda mouse and it's
5. SATA SSD ➡ M.2 SSD (3.14)-load times and access will improve as well as drive lifespan
2. Upgrading your mic/microphone setup (3.07)-like how sensitve do you want it?
5. More system RAM (2.93)-at least 16gigs anymore is a waste unless your doing Photo/Vido editing or CAD or Music authoring
2. Switching to an ultrawide monitor (2.71)-Depends alot on the Game itself if it take advantage of the size or not but related to the GPU the most
3. Getting a joystick for flight games (2.60)-if you game this type then yes it gives a immerise effect to the game itself but only to Flight Simulators and nothing else.
4. 4K resolution (2.57)-remember human eyes can't distinguish that kinda resolution so unless it's a TRUE 4K your wasting your time as those cost also to have.
2. Upgrading your PSU (2.47)-it should be at least 750W anything less your going to kill it with SLI/CF GPU attached to it running for long periods at least 1000W is needed.
1. Upgrading your router (2.43)-Depends what router if your going Wifi6 don't they have yet to standardize this you be the Ginuea pig for this-let others do that for you.
4. Getting a steering wheel for driving games (2.40)-if that's all you play sure but remember hardware apart from being used for everything comes at a CO$T to play.
3. Wired headset ➡ wireless gaming headset (2.33)-depends if your that close wired do better for signal transfer and lost but that is for you to decide on.
2. Gaming headset ➡ "Audiophile" headset (2.33)-if that's all you do then go ahead but it comes at a cost
2. Upgrading your... cable management? (2.14)-are we running IBM data centers?
1. RGB-ifying your whole setup in a moment of chromatic madness (2.07)-spend those $$ to get better GPU/CPU/RAM/SSD that will do far better in returns.
1. 5.1 surround sound speakers (2.00)-with headphones on what would that do?
1. Buying a VR headset (1.71)-Go Stadia why even have a PC Gaming computer?
5. Upgrading your motherboard (1.71)-not all motherboards are created equal if iNtel/AMD and there is a give and take on them
1. Upgrading your case (1.67)-unless your doing a IBM data center and only gaming that is wasted money
1. Upgrading your webcam (1.64)-what kinda streaming to plan to do and expect in return?
2. Switching from air cooling to water cooling (1.64)-if it leaks what will you do and you have to clean it every year that is a messy option
3. Switching to a monitor arm (1.64)-how far to plan on staying away from the monitor and where you planning to pan it to?
My take but take it for it's worth I done alot of PC and Laptop upgrades and some CPU/GPU where far better in return. My current GTX1060 can play Genshin Impact just fine at 27" 1080p without issue although it produces heat as result.Last edited: Jan 5, 2022
