Just received my Aorus Gamebox 2080Ti eGPU.
I am recording some videos on pulling it right now!
here’s a quick unboxing.
PART 1, opening the box packaging!
PART 2! In the rig!!
PART 3! Testing the GPU inside a desktop! THE BEST PART!
PART 4! Bios flashing!
PART 5 SHUNT MOD SOLDERING! 450 watts!!!
First Time spy run! Shes a beast now! Shunt modded! And bios flash! Cracked 17K graphics like it was nothing! These are daily stable numbers, so this performance really does well in games now. The card has more left in it for sure.

This card hold 2,115Mhz in games very nicely! With a 2080Ti, that is just blazing power!
Playing RDR2 I am pulling around 402-410 watts steady just from the graphics card.
AWESOME!!!

But you should fix that physics score.

But check this out, I am actually CPU limited in firestrike. I couldn't believe it when I saw my GPU utilization dropping from 89-92% and averaging around 93-95%. So, I am literally stuck at SUB 41,000 graphics score. And anymore GPU overclock will result in the exact same graphics score every single time. Because GPU utilization just goes down the faster the GPU is lol. -

Or get an 8700K.

Strange, yeah my physics score is 1,100 points higher, compared to that Firestrike score with 42,000 graphics score. And my combined is over 600 points higher too. I am seeing the GPU usage dropping. I’m gonna tinker with my cpu OC some more. I’ll do some 5.5 runs.
Here is my firestrike run. I get roughly the same or higher physics score at 5.3Ghz or 5.4ghz.

Getting 40,600 or 42,000 in firestrike graphics is literally margin of error almost, at about 3% difference. These CPU's are bottlenecked in firestrike. He is running faster memory than me. So, maybe that's what helped him!
That above 42K graphics score is running 9% faster system ram than me too. So, maybe thats what is helping him? I dunno.

I was using a Palit 2080Ti NON A bios. So with my fans and pump at 100% in MSI AB. They are really in spinning around 40%.
So, I went back to the 300 watt Gigabyte bios and now I am getting 100% pump and fan speeds. The card runs another 5C-6C cooler. But, I’ve lost 10 watts of juice. And it is much louder from pump vibrations and (2) screaming 120mm fans.
Still good enough.
This GPU easily performs on par with a 2080Ti Kingpin on its default 240mm liquid cooling setup. Most can sustain 2,130-2,175
Still, extremely impressive to see a card perform this good.
My “A” bin 2080Ti will be here Friday. These cards have bios that allow 1.091 volts and even higher and up to 570 watts of power draw with power sensing mod. So getting up to 2.2Ghz and maybe even 2.25Ghz is very possible with custom loop or maybe a 240mm rad.
As for CPU bottle neck. GPU usage still drops off around 5-11% in Firestrike. Which doesn’t happen if the card is running stock around 1,800Mhz.jc_denton likes this. -
The Old King of Gaming: Intel Core i7-8700K Revisited
6 Cores in 2020

Awesome revisit review. I am a believer @Papusan. I could have easily jumped to a newer more core CPU’s. but there’s really no faster option. Clock frequency is king once you have 6/12 cores. So, until I have a GPU that is actually bottlenecked then I am not running another cpu. Plus I game at 1440P 165HZ so I’m really good.
Aorus 2080Ti Gaming box eGPU is SOLD! I listed it last night for $1,299. And someone already bought it. I sent it off via USPS today.
My other 2080Ti is still in transit! Should be here tomorrow or Friday.
this Aorus eGPU was the most fun I’ve had with a video card in sometime.
I left the shunts in place, as this was a reliable and long term modification.
I am considering getting a Galax HOF 2080Ti next.
anyways, I hope this thread is more help to someone who happens to get one of these in the future. Because there is nothing in the web of someone pulling the 2080Ti from the eGPU enclosure. You can fit any RTX 2070/2080/ Supers or non Supers and any 2080Ti inside of this enclosure too.
The proper way to use a 2080Ti eGPU!
