With the right anchors, you can mount pretty heavy stuff on drywall/sheetrock.
Best thing is to try to find a stud behind the wall and attach a couple of screws directly to the studs which are usually wood or metal and are quite sturdy. Then for hollow portions, use anchors like these:

Right. You can hang anything if you mount to a stud. It's wide enough you could easily hit two or three stud.

Sheetrock is quite sturdy as long as the outer paper layer stays intact, otherwise it can crumble easily. Nothing beats good ole brick though.

Yeah nothing beats brick or timber. But having mounted my projector and surround speakers the snap toggles really are good

Another option could be to build a system in Thermaltake Core P5 case. Doing this you will give you option to either wall mount it or use it normally.
