299 on amazon. tested with 1080

It's on the manufacturers site.
They tested it with a 980 titan and an amd r9 also. But not with a laptop with an Intel nuc
I'm not positive but I think you're going to find it is exactly the same thing as the Razer core.but maybe cheaper parts.
Like it is the same reference or that akita is the oem of the computer parts or buys them from the same place

Though yes, good chance it will be pretty similar to the Core. -
nope that page link goes directly to the amazon link that is the link its not available yet it is the same thing.
pcie x 16 is the gpu connection pcs use currently, thats what it is. sorry you are confused theres nothing to be confused about. that akito page directly links to that amazon page thats what the cost is its not available yet it gives a date.
You can do this. -
The AKITIO Thunder 3 PCIe Expansion Box was available on Amazon earlier this week for $299 - Now it is a unavailable.
The AKITIO Thunder 3 eGPU Case was never available on the Amazon , its isn't even listed on their websites product page.
And yes i know what PCIe x16 means, and just because something is compatible with x16 cards, doesn't mean it will work as an eGPU. Even to get the Thunder 2 to work with Mac books, there is a lot of setup needed. I cant even remember to have seen it being used with a Windows Laptop.
There are a lot of different things at work, in order to get x16 PCIe cases to work as Thunderbolt eGPU's. The dedicated eGPU cases make things easier by adding a lot of support, though the core/base remains the same.
And whats the with the whole - You can do this ?
Im sorry but, i am genuinely lost at trying to understand what you are trying to say. Also mind posting links to correlate stuff?
AFAIK, the eGPU has no product links. The eGPU case was available earlier this week with an August 29th shipping date, but now its unavailable.Last edited: Aug 26, 2016 -
yes it was on amazon and now its gone.
you got this almost figured out without help
I can let you know when it available again. it was a 299 cost for preorder its off amazon.
you got it all down I think. I can let you know if its for sale again or you can check ethier place. The main thing we learned was the price not any place that has it for sale now. someone may get one.
the links are exactly what i showed you but you may need to bounce it off google.com also. you dont need anyones full time help these are the first info we have
your welcome.
a pcie x16 tb3 box that is not an egpu. thats a good one so what does that do then?
if you find out something on top of the links I have you can share it or not you dont need to share if youre confused thanks. -
yes the thunderboldt 3 pci x 16 case is an egpu. otherwise it would be a.... desktop graphics card um... what would you do with it display it?
I dont have a theory really. you put it in an enclosure to get a picture of what it looks like in an egpu someday?
im not actually aware of any use for a gpu that is not connected to a cpu if there is one i guess you would do that with a pci e x 16 enclosure....that is not an egpu.... I guess i mean you got me Id say just take it slow dont waste anyones time with posting about it and just read. -
Soundcard
Capture cards
Compute cards
Encoding cards
And more.
Here is the exact same box being sold with a PCIe SSD-
https://www.amazon.com/Akitio-Thunder3-Pcie-SSD-750Series/dp/B01FGNW0B2
And how will you power a GPU using that case ?
Look at the images of the eGPU case a d the PCIe box, they are 2 different products with similar components.
There are ways to use it as an eGPU but there is no guarantee it will even work.
And to answer your question about the display port, it's called Daisy chaining. Google is your friend.
Its a display passthrough of sorts. -
I just want to add some info here about akitio's egpu: they said it will be released by the end of this year.
I happen to read this comment from akitio TW, and here's what it generally means:
"bala bala. as for the eGPU application, due to influence from intel and apple in the thudnerbolt certification process, such feature doesn't satisfy every customer. Especially during thunderbolt 1 and 2, apple disagrees with eGPU.
However, there's breakthrough with thunderbolt3. In the computex of this year, we demoed expansion box specifically for eGPU, and it will be release by the end of this year. You can refer to bala bala"

There's more on this now: https://twitter.com/akitio/status/779116459112837120
Just no release date. -
Does anybody know if it will work with the laptop panel?
-
It should work, but then you'll have lower bandwidth. Also, it'll probably cost a lot
-
Looks like the product page is live: https://www.akitio.com/expansion/node.
-
This looks pretty neat all I need now is some conformation of this being compatible with my stock clevo batman 2.0.
-
-
-
Is this like the razercore egpu that only works for some laptops or will this work for most or all of the tb3 port enabled laptops ?
-
-
what PSU do you need and where in the world does it go in the case?
