I came up with the idea to make an E-MXM connection but as I saw soon enough I wasn't the only one with this idea. Now however the E-MXM to PCI-eX16 idea has been forgotten because of the Thunderbolt connection.

Alienware m17xR3 doesnt have a thunderbolt connection however would it be possible to connect the thunderbolt to 2usb3.0 ports? or even better My AlienwareM17xr3 had the option of a Video streaming card I didnt buy it though. This would mean there is a PCI(e) connection somewhere would that be enough for a thunderbolt connection? Don't forget my Alienware M17x has an HDMI-IN and OUT so I could get the image back on my own screen.

    Give me some ideas here.

and why do you want thunderbolt? I assume thats because of an egpu, if its that its not possible, and not worth doing.

you can use the mpcie for a egpu connection, still not worth it.

if you want to raise your gpu performance, buy another gpu a single 7970m is worth 2x 6990m in xfire

what you would want is to make am mxm to thunderbolt adapter. but then a mxm to pci-e would have much more performance and would be the same amount of work. forget about hdmi mni pci-e and usb3.0. any thunderbolt adapter based on those will have a very crippled performance.

I see. what you mean. It's really a shame the MXM to PCI-e idea never really got anywhere.
does anyone know when the Nvidia 680MX will be on the market? and also the AMD8000series. shouldnt they be here somewhere around march/april?

but still high end laptop cards dont even come close to the high end desktop cards. not to mention the price difference of about 250% for same performance
