Hello, I would like to apologize for opening a new thread, but I could not find the thread which regards to my problem. I red your DIY EGPU setup, and decided to buy one with GeForce 9800 gt 512MB DDR3. Me and my brother have a HP 6715b(moblie ati x1250) and HP 6820s(mobile ati 3200 HD) which both have amd/ati chipset. I bought PE4H 2.4 with EC2C (express card connector) and when I plugged the adapter with graphic card in it it shows error 12 in device manager. I have red the troubleshooting page and tried everything form modded drivers to PCI allocation with DSDT override which includes setting up jumpers on my adapter (delay switch, tried all 3 options and all HDMI ports), when I saw there was nothing happening i ordered the Setup 1.x solution and installed but it doesnt help me because it says that I dont have intel chipset, it recognizes my nvidia card and ati card but without the option of egpu setup(btw I tried all the options in the Setup1.x, still no result) it always sends the error 12. And then I red that it was advised to have intel chipset on laptop. To be honest, I was excited to see the solution with egpu beacuse in my opinion it worked wihout reading all the articles and because I dont have much money to buy a new computer, this was the ideal solution for all my problems, and I spent my last dime on the adapter... So if you could please tell me that there is a solution for this problem even though it is not intel chipset(this solution must not be reserved only for intel, ther must be away)? Is there a setup1.x for amd chipset or some kind of other solution? Please help me if you have some information or something

    Best regards,

    Igor

There are successful AMD RS780M chipset based DIY eGPU implementations listed in the table at http://forum.notebookreview.com/e-gpu-external-graphics-discussion/418851-diy-egpu-experiences.html . Furthermore, DIY eGPU Setup 1.1'x compaction will work regardless of the underlying chipset. It's only the Intel port management (x1,x2,x4, dGPU/iGPU) that gets disabled when it runs on a non-Intel chipset.

Have you tried doing a chipset update? In my case, it worked after bios update and a newer graphics card (i tried first with a Asus gtx 220, did not work, Gigabyte Gtx 560, worked!), and this was on the same computer.
