Hiya, very pleased to have found this forum (been searching since I got my 1kHE)

When I originally got my 1kHE it was my dream to put a gcard in it, and now (if my data is correct) I can!

My 1000HE has 3 mPCIe slots (and two mSata slots)
one is dedicated to the WiFi/3G, and the other two are unused.
After hearing about the x2 using 2 mPCIe slots, I became interested.
My question however, is it worth it? (versus just x1)

If I went with x1 I would be limit myself to x1 cards (for watt consumption reasons)
but If I could truly get the extra power out of x2, then why not?

Anyway, with an atom processor running at 1.65 GHz, would it be capable of running an x2 off one mPCIe? or would it need 2 mPCIe slots at once?

oh and if I'm running x2, would I need a card that's not PCIeX1(I'm assuming id need the standard x16)

Would I be able to supply the gcard with 12V power directly from my 1000HE's PSU Block? (or even buy a higher watt 12V PSU to power them both)

I have a thread on EeeUser on my 1000HE's build, if I don't need the extra mPCIe slot, I'll probably be using it for a USB 3.0 port.

As you can see, I'm not afraid to hack the out of this thing to get it beyond its normal capabilities. And I have a separate case laying around if it's necessary to get more room for the added gcard.

With 1x, I would imagine that sucking the power off the laptops power jack would be fine, but with 2x (and a x16 card) I would probably need more watts

    Thanks for your input.

I don't think Atoms can run games at all, maybe DOOM, but just barely.

Ok, after reading your thread I must say it could work ;)

I was able to play Diablo 2 on my Eee PC 1000 with the onboard graphics, so it's capable of running "games".

I'm testing a x1 setup right now on my T410 and it's not slow ;) so, yeah go with the x1 card, that should do the trick.

I would suggest buying a psu with higher output, I don't think the tiny psu can handle it.
