Can I DIY eGPU for skull canyon NUC?

After reading his awesome setup I took at the kit he used, will this be compatible with the skull canyon? And can I skip his PCIE->mini-PCIE since the NUC has one TB3 already? How hard is the setup? http://www.inxtron.com/products/thunderbolt3-hdk

Also PE4C+Deskmini 110 seems to be a good choice too. But afaik PE4C has no official PCIE 3.0 support which is going to be a possible bottoleneck.

 

PE4C v4.1 works great with the Skull canyon NUC @ PCIe 3.0 x4 . But you need to be on the latest BIOS, otherwise it runs at PCIe 3.0 x1.

Even any TB3 eGPU setup will work. People have used the Razer Core as well.

Check the TechInferno forums, i have seen a thread there regarding the same.

The TB3 HDK is basically the Thunder 3. My TB3 HDK shows up as the Akitio Thunder 3 in the system, after some firmware shenanigans.
