@becak, before a fresh install of Windows I couldn't get Optimus to engage. After install it was fine. Intel-only on board should mean relatively easy PnP.

    From Nvidia forums:

Thank you for the helpful reply. I think you are 100% correct on the CPU problem as when I run 3dmarks i barely get 1-2 frames per sec on the CPU test but over 30-50 on the graphics portion. I have put all the settings to LOW on starcraft and there is improvement (at least it doesn't look like a flipbook).

Is there anyway to ensure my CPU is working the best it can, or to improve performance past this? Thanks a lot!

    an update to my progress

i unpacked the package and use the PE4H and EC2C(expresscard)

i connected the molex connector and the built in 6-pin power from my psu to the DiY Vidock, i also attach the ATX Power Switch(SWEX) to my psu

i turn my computer to sleep and let the HDD finish then i connect my DiY Vidock

i resume my computer and i checked everest if it is detected. it is now getting detected

then i install the modded drivers, the card got detected then i click accept then select express then everything seems to be going good then i am greeted by this message
    [IMG]

i click ok then it ask if i want to cancel the installation and i select no then next

after that it says everything is installed and it doesn't ask to reboot

i ran gpu-z and it doesn't detect the clock speeds and sensors. i also open device manager and it says i am code 43
    [IMG]
at that i was thinking to myself. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO i have to send back the video card D:

then after i reboot its the same error message and the clocks and sensors on gpu-z wont get detected so what i did was uninstall my onboard video driver and intel driver then reboot

i install the official drivers from nvidia and i got the same error message then i experiment different to use different kind of drivers

sometimes the installation will fail to install at all and i wont receive the daemonu error message

suddenly the sleep botton cannot be chosen any more so i open google and did the suggested stuff but nothing happened
    [IMG]

also since i can't put the computer to sleep anymore, when i connect my vidock to computer and when i check device manager it says error 14 and it says that i need to reboot my computer so i rebooted my computer but once it will rebooted it wont POST. it will just show a black screen forever and the HDD activity is doing nothing

so what i did was power off my Vidock and computer

then i boot without attaching the vidock and booted in the DiY Setup and i select #2

when is says i attach the vidock, i attach it to the computer

i observed that when i attach my PE4H EC2C on my computer, all green lights on it will light up and a red light will appear then the red light will disappear when its done loading and the fan will spin more fast(normal) as opposed to spinning very slow

on the window port 3 is showing nothing so what i did was refresh(F5) and it appeared on the port

i ran the bios thing(nvram) and it says
unconfigured device, device is not accesible
no nvidia video card is detected

so what i did was r un compaction then enter next next next and when it says
successful boot with vidock off, i select yes
then when is says there is possibility it will hang i select no then it bring me back to the selections

i run the nvbios again and it says nvidia card is detected

then i select save diagnosis and select then chainload and select my os and load

then i proceed to experiment again with drivers, sometimes it will say error 14 which ask me to restart but when i restart i receive the same message.

sometimes it will say error 43

and now i got a new error message says error 10 device cannot start
    [IMG]

at this point, i am almost certain that my video card is dead:(

then i burrowed my sister's computer which is a Toshiba A665(best buy)
    the specs are
    Core i3 350m 2.27Ghz HM55
    4GB DDR3
    Intel HD Graphics
    Expressport 1.0
    Windows 7 Home Premium X64

i put the computer to sleep and wait for the HDD to finish then i power on my ViDock and connect it to the computer. i resume the computer and i check everest then after a few seconds a driver notification popped up and says driver is installing then it ask to reboot and i reboot the computer with the vidock poweron and attached to the computer

it didn't hang on POST and just booted normally

i open device manager and it doesn't display any error messages. it says Microsoft wdm on the driver

then i install 3DMark 06 and 3DMark Vantage and its patch and run it but the Vantage fail to complete the test and it says inaccurate results

here is the result on the Intel HD(onboard)

then i install the modded driver(266.35). the installation went smooth, is doesn't display any error and the installation is successful and it ask to reboot which i did

then i open device manager and it doesn't display any error message

i right click the desktop and the nvidia stuff is there

the feeling of excitement begins to comeback on me

i run 3DMark06 then the optimus certification thing shows up, everything looks positive,

    it is showing good FPS(35-45)

then suddenly the video card and my psu switched off by itself

my face basically turned like this

    : D

    : (

    D :

    D :<

    O 8<

    DX

NOT AGAIN!!! NOW MY PSU CANT HANDLE MY VIDEO CARD

at that time i suddenly felt so exhausted like running 50 miles in the middle of the desert without any water

i almost give up at that point

then i remember my video card got a 2 molex to 6pin PCI-E power connector and i used it.

i reran 3DMark06 and it did not crash or video card and psu power off by itself

    here are the results
    [IMG]

i also ran the 3DMark Vantage but it display the same error message "inaccurate results" and refuse to show my score

then i try my vidock again on my computer and got the same error messages

up to this time, i have no success on making my GTX 460 work on my computer :(

i am still trying all the stuff and ideas i can think of

any ideas and suggestion would be greatly appreciated

ive done nearly everything right now and its still not working :(

i did things like download R-W and save the dump then load check nvflash run compaction and chainload,
    set 32bit run compaction,
    ignore
    enable hybrid dedicated GFX
different drivers from the included cd, modded and latest(both on intel x3100 and nvidia)
i also used the PM3N and same results and errors
sleep then power on vidock then attach, resume and its still got same errors
i did all possible combinations on the DiY Setup and drivers and still not working

the current error i got right now is Code 43 "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems"

    im very exhausted right now

the only thing that im hoping for right now is do a format

that is now my only hope

do a complete format and hope for the best :(

yeah, I get the resource conflict message every time too if I reboot my computer w/o the vidock plugged in. The only way I can get it to work with my GTX 580 is when I check the device manager and it has the conflict, I right click and uninstall the device, (but do not check the box to remove the drivers). Then I shut down the system, unplug the vidock, log into windows completely; then plug in the vidock and it should say detected, and go thru the process of insalling the drivers, give it time and it should still show the yellow warning label then once the driver is completely installed it will ask to restart. This time when you restart and leave the vidock plugged in it loads fine with the external gpu. Only downside for me is I have to do this every time I reboot my system w/o the vidock plugged in from this point on. But I usualy keep it in sleep mode so no big deal.

    More updates on error 43;

    System setup;
    Lenovo T400
    Win7/64
    CPU Mem 3Gb
    GTX460 SE
    PE4H
    Corsair CX430

After taking everyone opinion that error 43 might be a bad card, I went ahead and tested the card on a pc running xp/32 and it runs great no problem. Therefore, problem lies on my pc bios. More updates coming...

Ok, I would appreciate any recommendations or help here.

I have a new Z13 w/ Win7x64 and all the associated hardware needed to setup the DIY ViDock...

But for the life of me, I can't get any of the drivers installed correctly, even BEFORE attempting to plug in the external card. (I should mention I'm shooting for 470gtx 1.Opt)

I can get the stock drivers to work fine... but as soon as I try and get the modified 258.96, or any other versions up and running on both Intel HD and the 330M... I can't get the 330M to cooperate.

The modified INI for 258.96 will install, but then windows won't enable the card on reboot.

    Uggh. Thanks

/Does this forum not have PM? I'd love to get Nautis and Nando in PMs... or email or something. kip at kturnbull dot com ;)

You can see masterjumong2012 has a good strategy for testing the card: if you can't get clock info up in gpu-z then the card will error 43. So worth testing various permutations:

    - sleep, poweron DIY ViDock, resume Win7
    - boot Win7, hotpug DIY ViDock.

Finally could do a fresh Win7 load to see if have better success with a clean slate.

i tried to replicate all the stuff you said but unfortunately i cant boot past POST with the vidock plug and powerd. it would not display any screen and no HDD activity if its pluged

so here is what i did
1.open device manager select GTX 460 and uninstall without selecting the driver
    [IMG]

2.shutdown the computer and unplug and power off vidock

3.boot without the vidock then sleep wait for the HDD to finish then power on vidock and plug it, resume and i got this message
    [IMG]
no yellow stuff appeared, it just ask to reboot after that

4.since i cant past POST while vidock is pluged
    what i did was
    -power off and remove vidock
    -boot into DiY Setup
    -load dump(from the RW-everything)
-check if video card is present on nvflash
-run compaction(after that the free memory on the window says 64MB)
    -chainload and select my OS

5.boot into windows then check device manager and i still got Code 43

I decided to try out DIY ViDock Setup 1.08e tonight with success!!
Now I can use my 6GB RAM and my ViDock 4 + GTX 460 together.
I went through a lot of trial and error.
Eventually I had to disable PCI-E Port 4 to get PCI-E Port 5 running at X2, and only 32 bit compaction would work.
Now the only problem is how do I make the system remember the settings?
The system goes back to the usual Code 12 error after every restart so I have to run DIY Setup every time I load Windows and chainload.
The Use Startup.Bat function always gives me this bad command or filename response. I suspect that is the culprit for its inablity to remember compaction settings. But I don't know how to fix that. Do I have to manually set a parameter or file setting?

Thanks to all the people who helped create this wonderful tool and thread.

Sorry it didn't work, the only thing I could say is, go to your bios and make sure your IRQs for your PCI is set to Auto Detect or at least to various IRQs and not all to the same or disabled. Other than that, I wouldn't know where else to begin.

So I finally got around to downloading this RE5 demo and run the benchmark. At full res 1920x1200 and high settings for Variable Benchmark. I got a 65.6 fps with the lowest in Area 3? I think, I forget which area, couldn't take a screenshot came out black; and it was 44.5fps at that area. Highest was like 119fps in area 1. Not sure how good or bad that all is, but at least it was an A and anything over 30fps usually a good sign for fps.

How does 64 bit come into play with the vidock setup? Not much of a dramatic difference? Or so worth the upgrade?

Probably you know it already, but Acer's new Sandy Bridge laptops are comming out right now, but they don't have Express card 2.0 yet. Travel Mate family will be the first with EC 2.0, but only later this year, I guess second half.

After reading through some of your guides and online, I couldn't help but notice that there are USB to expresscard converters:
SIIG USB to ExpressCard Adapter - JU-000012-S1, $34.95
So if my comp doesn have expresscard, I can use this and then connect the gfx card via a diy vidock? Would it work?
And I was also wondering if there is any difference in terms of speed with a PCi-e slot as compared to an expresscard slot?

List of Intel chipsets - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Well, according to wikipedia @ least I believe....I think u need the sandy bridge mobile chipset with at least dmi 2.0
I found another page a while back that mentioned the digital media interface 2.0 versions came out feb 20. I don't know why this link says hm65/67 came out jan 9 cuz I remember from before I thought it said these dont come out till feb 20 so I am not sure.

I dont know how fast those usb-expresscardadapters are...USB is pretty slow. Realistically, if u transfer HD files over a usb hard drive, the max tranfer rate is like 30 mb/s

If they bring out some USB-to-expresscard in version USB3.0, are we able to have 5 gbit/s of transfer for sandy bridge laptop or 2.5 gbit/s for older? So we will be able to plug our graphic card into the usb3.0-to-expresscard and have the same performance than a native expresscard.

Is there someway to make Windows 7 memorize the compacted PCI settings so it isn't necessary to run DIY ViDock setup and chainload everytime I reboot?
    Thanks.

I am looking for a Sandy Bridge laptop with ExpressCard too.
Unfortunately, the manufacturers are apparently abandoning ExpressCard.

this is purely based on my experiences( individual results may vary!)

if your planning to buy and do a DiY Vidock and your notebook doesn't support/have Nvidia Optimus and you don't have any external LCD and your planning to do Ultramon/Chung-gun method to use your internal LCD
Don't i repeat DON'T even try to do. it is totally not worth it and i will explain that as you progress to read this

i finally manage to make ultramon/chun-gun method up and running but before i begin into that i just want to say/explain other key things that i observed/encountered during my journey through trail and error and make this thing up and running

first of all the culprit on Code 10 cannot start device, Code 14 need to restart the device and most important of all Code 43 device stopped has and encountered errors
    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

-i will start with Code 43 cause i think that is the most important issue and some people here is also receiving that error on their devices

the save dump on DiYSetup and the latest version of RW-Everything v1.4.8.5 is broken
now you must be thinking " why did you say that?"

i can say this with certainty cause i done almost all possible way and combinations i can think of and my fingers is not enough to count how many times i did this through trial and error

the solution for Code 43 for me is use the RW-Everything 1.4.7 and save the dump
    1. Boot Win7.
    2. Download and install R-W Everything from RW - Read & Write
    3. Standby system, attach NVidia card, resume system. Ensure the NVidia
card appears in Device Manager, even if it has errors against it. All
that matters is for the card to be on the PCI bus.
    4. Run R-W Everything, choose Access-Command.
    5. Type 'save c:\10de0e22.bin memory 0xe0600000 0x2000', creating a 8kb file
4kb will be the gpu and 4kb for the hdmi audio controller.
    6. Copy c:\10de0e22.bin to your DIY ViDock Setup 1.x USB drive or disk image
    \config directory.
    7. Select the 'Load PCI dump' option to load that 'configured' dump.
    8. Use 'NVidia-nvflash' to check your NVidia card is now 'configured'.
    9. Proceed to perform PCI Compaction and test chainloading.

and load dump on DiYSetup and run compaction then chainload. every-time i boot i need to do that every time or else it will give me Code 43 and Clock and Sensors wont appear on GPU-z

-now code 14 need to restart the device. i thought that if i let it reboot while the vidock is attached and power on to the computer, it will not POST(no screen "BSOD") and will reboot endlessly and when i removed the Vidock boot into windows and do the "put to sleep, power on Vidock then attack and resume" it will give me the same Code 14

i experimented and just let my computer reboot with the ViDock attached and poweron to see what will happen. What happens is it will try to POST 3x. at the first 2 attemps it will display no screen and it will reboot but on the third time, the red light on my PE4H lights up and it boot normally then i have to do my " Code 43 fix" and load to windows and that seemed to fixed my Code 14 Problem

-now " code 10 device cannot start". if you don't have any drivers that error message will likely to appear

the first time i got my GTX 460 recognize i, i chose to install the modded drivers 266.35 to be precise(on my computer x3100) it will give me daemonu error message and sometimes the installation will be successful, sometimes it will fail but the thing is no matter what the result of that installation, i still receive Code 10

i found the fix through trial and error (but before you do the fix i want you to download driver sweeper and select all the nvidia and analyze then clean and make a reboot)

by using the included driver CD, the installation went smooth and i don't receive any error message and it ask to reboot. when i reboot the and did my "Code 43 fix" everything is working and up and running

the latest official driver from nvidia(266.58) also works great for me

(p.s) to clarify some possible confusion, the modded driver(266.35) works great on my syster's computer(Core i3 Intel HD) and optimus is working

now enough with errors, lets get into the experience i got with Ultramon\Chung-gun method and if your still determined to do it no matter what it takes, be prepared cause this is very messy and is not for the faint hearted

    i would perfectly be honest

its a big pain in the a$$ to understand how to make this work:GEEK:

there is no friendly way to make the ultramon/chung-gun to work(no video's no nothing)

all you got is the set of instructions and even if you follow every single steps, sometimes it will just decide he wont work or worse you thought it is working only to discover when the app is launched the onboard video is the one working

to simplify this, it is buggy(im using the current latest version UltraMon 3.1.0)

    and by buggy i mean
-when you switch to the mirrored monitor on the external video card, sometimes the desktop icons will appear there sometimes it won't
-sometimes if i open a program it will not appear on both the primary and mirrored display or sometimes it will just appear on the primary display(before you say anything the program is set to winow mode and sometimes it will work sometimes it wont, yes i also know the move to other monitor suff on the taskbar but for some unknown reasons he just wont move to the other monitor)
-there is possibility that you will get stuck on the mirrored monitor and no possible way to go back because all the program your lauching(windows task manager, screen resolution) will just appear on the primary monitor and if you hit the ctrl+win+n it will just do nothing and will require you to do a hard reboot
-in the case you get stuck on the mirrored display, if you do a reboot and ultramon decided he want to go into the mirrored display and no desktop icons even if you hit ctrl+win+n it will do nothing so you need reboot agian and physically unplug your Vidock and configure every setting to scratch on ultramon and hope that it wont do the same thing when you put back your vidock
-the windowed program you launch wont be center on screen and if you dont set your task bar to auto hide, then program your using will be covered by the task bar
-some programs don't have the tittle bar(dirt 2) so you have no way to move it manually to center on the screen

    you must now be thinking
"enough with Ultramon/Chung-gun method, how about the general user experience and actual results"

so far i have tried Dota, Crysis and Dirt 2 on my computer

im sad to say that the results that i got is "disappointing beyond belief"

my initial worries and fears of it running only 10% of the card potential by using Ultramon/Chung-gun method became reality

im running widow mode(FPS is observed through Fraps running in background)

on Crysis if i set everything to Very High with 16xAA @ 1024x768 i would get about 11-14FPS
    if i set everything to low 0xAA @ 800x600 i would get about 15-22FPS

on dirt 2 i got the same results on both very high and low and i would get and fps of 13-24FPS

on Dota i see no improvement and the experiece just became worst cause i am running in window mode

to summarize my gaming experience with it. " it is not playable, totally unacceptable for the FPS the card can produce(GTX 460 768MB)

Nvidia Cuda is also not present or at-least not functioning(gpu-z says i don't have Cuda, Cyberlink Power Director and Media Espresso wont let me select hardware acceleration, Media Coder wont let me select hardware acceleration) and yes i ran all of this on the mirrored display through my GTX 460
(p.s.) i am using the latest official drivers(266.58). the modded one's refuses to work on my computer

right now i wanted to install and try Mafia II, GTA IV and Metro 2033 but i don't have any more motivation to do so :frown:

i also observed that the intro on games(movie) is stuttering badly on GTX 460 (both on my computer X3100, and my sister's computer Core i3 Intel HD with Optimus)

i don't have any more money to hopefully fix this issue

i wanted to sell my computer to ebay and buy a used optimus capable notebook(4500mhd, intel HD) but i don't have any account or any experience to do it(i don't even know where to get box to pack this stuff)
also my computer is in worse condition(the screen is very bad and by bad i mean the white looks yellow)
the keyboard and palmrest is also worn out and the area where i put my palm and fingers went from dark grey to shiny black
the charger also has damage(the cord on it is also snapped away and the wires on it is exposed)

to simplify selling my computer is not an option

so my hope right now is to get an external monitor in which i don't have any money to purchase :frown:

even though the experience with it is not very good, i don't plan on selling my video card and PE4H anytime soon

to conclude this stuff i just want to give advice on people looking to do a DiYSetup

-if you don't have any external monitor and your notebook doesn't support Optimus and your hoping to do Ultramon/Chung-Gun method
DON'T EVEN TRY TO DO IT! its a waste of money and the results are unacceptable

-if your have a choice of running internal LCD + Highend Card vs External LCD + lowend to midrange card
i would choose the external monitor route cause even Nvidia Optimus is not that impressive(the results are OK)

(p.s.) i would like to thank all the person that has been involved with this
it has been an incredible journey and experience

im hoping to get myself an external monitor as soon as possible

Hi guys.. I'm having an issue. I am unable to get my card to work again... After my initial report of success, I was too busy working to think about it again. Now finally I had some time to play games... it is not working.

I put Win7 on standby. Turned on setup, plugged it in. Resumed Windowed. The card shows up in my device manager with "No drivers installed" even though it worked last time. Anyone experienced something similar?

    T61p on Win7 32-bit. GTX 460.

UPDATE: I tried to install the driver before plugging in card; it won't let me since its not detecting it since I only have a Quadro FX570M internally, the desktop driver won't install. I've installed the laptop driver properly, rebooted, put on standby, plug in setup, boot again. It tried to install the standard VGA but it failed. The 266.58 desktop driver is running now but it just kind of hangs. I have waited a long time but it doesn't finish. Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

It feels like your trying to set out a negative atmosphere in here. This is your conclusion to a DIYSETUP. But how does it differ from a commercial VIDOCK? That will be 10 times better than a DIY?

The info about optimus is out there. I've read through the pages many times but I still didn't comprehend it 100% until even after getting everything to work and using it myself.

VIDOCK internal - With a vidock internal setup. I can play starcraft 2. My settings are, I can run the textures at ultra. I can make look it look decently pretty, I don't really notice anything like shadows, it's mainly the textures that are the obvious. Anything that is cpu intensive like physics. I had to turn off or put to low. I could get around 24-30fps, which is decently playable.

CS source.....max fps is 51fps with internal vidock setup. No matter what even if looking at a blank wall. It's playable, but not smooth enough and high enough fps you can play well.

VIDOCK external. Okay vidock external is the way to go. You are not sending the frames back into the internal lcd through the mini hdmi with an internal setup. So you do get a mighty boost, with that fact optimus lets you turn off the internal lcd. I have tested external on a 1440x900 lcd. I can play css. I can make it so it is always above 60fps. It is totally playable with all settings settings to make it look very pretty. I can play starcraft 2 as well. I've also tried a 1920x1080 setup with starcraft 2 with the same settings I used with internal......I can get around 24 fps MINIMUM when I tested it with the opponent with his army attacking my base full of evo chambers.
With a vidock setup. You get the most bang of your buck when you go external and run things at a higher resolution with your settings on. There is not much of a drop in performance when you go with a high extnernal resolution vs low external resolution.

I've just aqquired an external lcd for this setup specifically. LCD resolution is 1650x1050. I also got an HP desktop. But I will most likely keep the vidock and not use the HP desktop. Why? What's inside a HP desktop? A cheap power supply 12v @ 16A max. Very loud stock heatsink fan. So I would need to replace the power supply and the heatsink (unless I unplug the fan on the heatsink).

Just to give an update... I still can't get it to work. The card shows up on the PCI Bus and everything. It just keeps saying there's no driver installed but the driver is showing 266.58. I tried Driver Sweep multiple times now. How can I uninstall it and re install? If I try to uninstall it in device manager... it jut hangs.

    Help, anyone? Nando?

Yeah, I did that first. Then ran Driver Sweep. Everest shows the card in the PCI bus correctly, and there's no error in Device Manager... it just says "No Driver Installed for this Device" but in driver setting it shows 266.58.

I think my issue is having 2 Nvidia card, one internal and one external... and the drivers don't want to work with both?

Ensure gpu-z reports your clock info OK to confirm the GTX460 is being correctly initialised. If yes, then suggest modify the INF of the Optimus drivers to include your FX570M and reinstall. That way have one unified driver for both cards.

How can I get afterburner to run 2D at lowest clock speed, then when I game, it goes at the overclock speed? I set the 2d and 3d profiles, but I do not think after I am done gaming, it doesn't go back down to 2d profile I believe...not sure...it would be nice if I could get a message to display teling me what speed it's running at too.

I can't change voltage in msi afterburner. Max core allowed is 845mhz. Anyway to change this?

can you explain it how and why?

did you even care to read before you comment?

my computer doesn't support optimus(x3100) no matter what i do and i don't have any external LCD so ultramon\chung-gun is the method i am using

i am talking very specific about ultramon\chung-gun being not a viable solution if your notebook doesn't support optimus and you don't have any external lcd to use

in Ultramon\Chung-gun everything must be run in window mode, games and application must be run in window mode and most important of all the results are completely unnacceptable

Thanks, for the suggestion. I'll download GPU-Z and take a look at what that says. Am I wrong in thinking that Optimus driver only work when you have an internal Intel card? I have an internal Nvidia card.

    I'd like to create a x2 setup. I have got a PE4H-EC2C running with a HD5770.
I've got the ICH8M chipset in my Thinkpad R61 notebook.

    My PCIe slots:
Port 1: empty slot (could put a PM3N into that one)
    Port 2: WLAN card
    Port 3: n/a
    Port 4: Expresscard slot

I've got pne free mPCIe slot available (slot 1). I'd like to put a PM3N into that slot to use PCIe x2.
How do I create a x2 link? Is it possible with my hardware?
Can I use Port 1 and Port 4 for that?

Almost at the point of giving up and maybe i will be RMA ing my items soon,

    One main problem:
error 43 (maybe its because of gtx 460 SE? dont buy that just buy regular GTX460) even if its cheaper.
On Vidock setup, the NVflash function under video card dont recognize GTX 460 SE but its showing GTS 450??? weird.

Load dump method using R-W everything ver 1.4.7 works thanks to Masterjumong2012 tips
Run PCI compaction showing free memory 256mb

Once thats done i usually click "chainload w7 orig" under application on vidock setup and it will take me back to the main windows boot manager, I tried both with vidock on and off.

Randy from Harmonic Inversion told me to turn off the vidock when i do that however its kinda hard to get my card recognized after i turn it off when on vidock mode.
anyway once you get to the blue screen with 4 menu option i pick number 1 after running load dump, pci compaction and clicking chainload win7, then it immediately took me back to the windows boot manager (is it normal, I dont know what I am doing)

then I just click windows 7 from there (with vidock off) since the other option will take me back to the vidock menu.

Once i win7 load up, I turn on vidock, it gets recognize but still error 43 , GPU z shows gtx 460 se but wont show clock and sensor.

I dont think i am destined to go to the gaming mode at this point. maybe some other time in the future, there will be more stable and consistent method of doing this diy vidock,

for now the easiest is shot another $600-700 to buy parts to build a pc and stick that card in the mobo.

you should not turn off your vidock otherwise the purpose of loading the dump and compaction will be pointless cause if you turn it off the computer will think no one needs the memory so instead of putting that memory on the PCI, it will not go anywhere.

everytime i boot, i need to load the dump and compaction cause if i don't i will recieve Code 43

also make sure you do the RW-Everything properly just like this( make sure your video card and vidock is plugged and poweron!)
    <param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/7i1e20Wu-e8?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US&amp;hd=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/7i1e20Wu-e8?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US&amp;hd=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width='960' height="745"></embed></object>

after that restart your computer and don't remove or power off your vidock

    then boot into DiY Setup

    Choose #2(Menu Based)

    then you choose video card

then load dump, in my case there are 3 choices "none, vid_0 and vid_2"
(you will know which on is your onboard or external graphics card by looking at the top right corner windows where the memory, ports, etc is displayed)

in my case vid_2 says nvidia so i choose vid_2

after that it will ask you to enter and it will bring you back

then select the nvflash to check if the card is detected. it should say the card is configured
you should NOT RECIEVE THIS MESSAGE when you ran nvflash
(unconfigured device, device is not accesible
no nvidia video card is detected)

if you recieve that message, its likely
    -your vidock is power off
-unplugged or not deteced(if so unplug then power off then power on then replug and wait for 30sec then you hit F5, it should appear on the port and say(NVIDIA)
-did not do the RW-Everything properly
-you use the latest version of RW-Everything which is 1.4.8.5

after that you ran PCI Compaction. in my case after running PCI Compaction
the free memory on the windows goes from 256MB to 64MB after running the compaction. you will need to press enter several times then it will bring you back from the menu

then you select chanload os and select your operating system. it should not display Code 43 if you did everything properly

everytime you reboot, you need to boot into vidock and select #2 and do all those stuff again

to summarize every thing you need to

boot into vidock > select #2(Menu Based) > Video Card > Load Dump > Show State > NVFLASH > GO BACK TO MENU > PCI CONFIG SPACE > RUN COMPACTION> CHAINLOAD W7 (NOT CHAINLOADER!)> SELECT YOUR OS

edit: can you check if you card says 10de:0e22 on DiYSetup on the top right window or if u have everest you run it and look for this?

Or you add all your required sequence by using '!Edit startup.bat' (examples given) so can just select "Automated startup via startup.bat" option so it does it all for you in like 2 seconds.

If you've saved your PCI dump AND performed manual PCI compaction, then '!Edit startup.bat' to contain the following for your GTX460SE. This will mean you can then select 'Automated startup via startup.bat' which will prompt you to power on your DIY ViDock, load your PCI dump, load your PCI compaction settings and chainload to Win7. It will actually go back to your Win7 bootmenu if using the disk image method where you select Win7.
    Code:
    call waitvid 60 10de:0e23
    call pcicap load -d 10de:0e23
    call pci
    call grub4dos w7
I believe Randy is sending you some new hwtools hardware and/or mini HDMI cable just in case you have some weird hardware issue.

Ok, I need a bit of help.

I went and got everything from here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/gam...51-diy-vidock-experiences-31.html#post5964738

I did run into the power supply problem, tried the usb power solution, but ending up getting a cheap atx power supply and got it working with that.

But the one problem that I haven't figured out since I've started is that my vista 32 is not detecting the expresscard (no familiar ding when inserting).

I have a cheap expresscard memory card adapter and windows sees that, also it sees the PE4L when I place my keyboard and mouse in the usb.

Any solutions? I did manage to get the DIY Vidock Startup program running, but have no idea how to use it.

Those adapters use the USB pins of your expresscard slot, not the pci-e pins. DIY ViDock needs working pci-e pins. Test an e-sata or USB 3.0 expresscard to confirm your expresscard slot's pci-e pins are operational OR get a PM3N and use the wifi slot instead.
