I have a T420 with i5 2540M, 4GB memory, 60GB SDD, integrated graphics, and 1600x900. I wanted to buy the cheapest solution to put together a eGPU solution. I am planning to buy a GTX 460 or around there, maybe even a used 4890.
Could someone help with what hardware I will need? I also want to put it in an enclosure as I have cats that are too curious. Would a small shuttle case do or is there a better solution? I want to be able to utilize the expresscard 2.0 that I believe comes with my T420.
I read the threads, but there is a lot of information!
Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

See parts list in DIY eGPU implementation: i5-2540M 2.6 12.5" HP 2560P + NVidia GTX560Ti @x1.2Opt. Otherwise please reference Getting Started guide in http://forum.notebookreview.com/gam.../418851-diy-egpu-experiences.html#post5324240 where you'll see your proposed GTX460 is a far better solution than a HD4890 because of the Optimus pci-e compression you'd get. -
Thanks, guess I need to wait for Ver 3.0 to come out.
