    Hello,

I've bought a PE4L 2.1b few days ago and should receive it in few days.
    I'm going to use it on my macbook pro 17'' 2011 on windows 7 (I have a intel hd4000 + ati 6770m).

I was thinking to buy this GPU for the pe4l: Newegg.com - ASUS GTX680-2GD5 GeForce GTX 680 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

Should it work fine with pe4l? also any normal PSU will work right? I got a 500W PSU from my old pc which I'd like to use.

Oh also I'm going to use the pe4l 2.1b on my expresscard port of my macbook pro, would it be faster to use a thunderbolt->expresscard adaptor instead or it won't change anything?

    Thanks!

Also would this work as well? Newegg.com - EVGA Signature 04G-P4-2692-KR GeForce GTX 690 4GB 512-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card (gtx 690)

    EDIT:
I got the 680gtx connected to pe4l, the GPU is detected and I installed the latest desktop driver, as you can see in this screenshot it looks all right:
    http://kimochi.ath.cx/up/a672f14c39c...e567a726a0.PNG

But I don't know how to get the gpu to work, I'm using the iGPU right now (since I disabled the notebook's ati gpu).
Also windows starts only if I bootup with the GPU turned off and I turn it on while starting (after I press F8, before starting windows normally)

Can someone give me some advises? also I'd like to run it in my internal monitor ofc

I also installed nvidia verde (notebook) drivers now, the latest one modded for my 680, installed without any error but still using the iGPU

you know a GPU half this price would already play every game in max settings, and then in a couple years if you need more power then you'd be able to buy a newer model with the money you saved (and I'm pretty confident that a 500$ GPU in a couple of years will be more powerful than a 1000$ GPU today. (also sorry for not answering your question, I really have no idea)

Well that's my decision, the problem is will the 680 works good? how much does it lose compared to using it on a normal computer?

Also for the 690 I have found out that it gives a lot of problems as eGPU :(, so no 690

The Sonnet Echo espresscard-thunderbolt just allows you to plug the the egpu to your TB port. It is still locked at 5.0gt/s, so there is no boost in performance compared to the 2.0 expresscard on the macbook pro (could someone clarify that it is 2.0?). If you were like me and owned the 2011 13inch mbp, you would need the adapter but you don't. It will also save you $170 from not having to buying the adapter.

And yes, the 680 has been confirmed to work with an egpu.

A late MBP 17" 2011 has an expresscard slot and a Thunderbolt port so there is no need for any Sonnet expresscard-to-Thunderbolt adapters. So the best eGPU solution for that system is (in oder of performance):

    1. Thunderbolt enclosure (x4 2.0). Need to wait for a BPlus TH05 or MSI GUS-II to be released. BPlus setting a July 2012 ETA for their product.
    2. An expresscard eGPU product like the BPlus PE4L-EC060A 2.1b (x1 2.0).

Thank you a lot, I've bought the pe4l 2.1b and the gtx 680, should be able to try both by next weekend I hope, I'll post my results in the forum afterward :)

I'll also buy the msi gus ii or the bplus th05, ofc, when they get released!

Is it just not working on the external screen? Or are you experiencing error 12?

Hmm... how did you turned off your DGPU? My 15'' 2012 macbook pro never seems to be able to shift into IGPU while using window via bootcamp. Well, IGPU never seems to be enabled while I'm using windows.
