    Hello,
    Just to report successful eGPU setup with GeForce 9800GT and T61.
    Specs:
    laptop;
    lenovo T61,
    T7300 - 2.0 GHz;
    4GB RAM dual chanell;
    128 GB SSD SAMSUNG(lenovo), with bios update for sata 2 speed;
    eGPU: GIGABYTE 9800GT stock;
    dGPU: NVS 140M, great overclocker, quick report (core 750, memory 1GHz, 1,5 Ghz shader---stable, did not benchamark with sw, but played COD4 on laptop with oc“ed specs and it ran on 1280x800, world detail normal, blur, and texture to normal, it was playable(max 2h, battery out) but with default setting 400, 600, 800; i can only play resolution 1280 x 800 and everything off and low to be playable) but only this specs if you use copper shim mod and arctic colling MX-4 paste(it has great heat conductivity for the copper shim mod combo) with clean air vents
    ICH8M chipset, lcd --- 14.1(wide);
    OS: Win 7 x64 Ultimate, Setup1.x grub4dos;
    eGPU setup; PE4H with expresscard adapter to external Monitor;
    PSU (some default atx psu, certified 350W);
    drivers; 302.50 official;(can switch internal/external lcd i nvidia settings);
    by the way, great forum, very informative, and thanks for the info for setting up eGPU.

    I got the PE4H with expresscard without setup1.x and pluged it by default into expresscard slot, and the laptop recognized it automatically switching it to external monitor, it was blind loading on the internal screen by powering on, and shows only loading screen of windows 7 like Vista on the internal and by the log in screen it already switches to external monitor 19". Installed 302. drivers which recognise NVS 140M and 9800 GT and gives me an option of running physix on cpu or gpu(9800GT) or auto. In the GPU-Z it shows that 9800GT is on x1 1.1. In setup 1.x which i installed later it shows i have 6 ports available, where 5 are active and the 6th is disabled. It registers Intel(on port 2) and 9800GT as eGPU on port4. I have ICH8 chipset and it reports its gen1 max 2.5 GB transfer rate. It shows that only port 1, 3, 5 are capable of x2 speeds. So is there any way to transfer the location of eGPu and Intel on lets say on port 3 and Intel on port 5 with the 6th enabled in startup.bat? I tried also by disabling the dGPU but it just hangs by trying to set it up.... So i ran compaction 32 on eGpu dGpu either way and it was successful with the chainload but when i tried to do 36 bit compaction with setting dGpu to 36 bit space and eGpu on 32 bit space it hanged on loading screen, tried again with plugging on log in screen it loads on internal registering 9800 and NVS 140M but with no drivers(! in the device manager on both). In GPU-Z it reports both cards, but with no info on the clocks, and nvidia default drivers 302 but not working.
    Performance, only tested with windows index manager, it jumped from 4,2 (default) to 5,0 with eGPU, by increasing graphic performance index from 4,2 to 5,5.

    is it possible to perform a x2 setup on T61, or something better than x1.1 with these setup I have? Has someone done this setup on x2 speed, with T61? Thank you in advance.

    dGPU + eGPU 32 bit compaction works(but I can not disable dGPU). In Physx it reports 2 graphic cards: menu.gif
    It reports 8400m GT, but it is really a NVS 140M, i played with nvidia device id, trying to force some better recognition by drivers ad it was succesfull. Current score in performnace index Win7 x64 4.6 without dGPU, 5.1 eGPU external, 4.9 eGPU internal.

    Update: Nvidia Performance tool tends to crash on higher temps >75; so I used EVGA tool, and current clocks are on nvs 140m(a.k.a. 8400m GT); core 640; memory 960; shaders: 1280; COD4 everything on normal and on except specs and shadows, with 2x aa, 1280x800 = smooth)

    So can anyone help me with achieving higher speeds for my eGPU setup. Nando, anyone?

    No one? I see the last thread like" what is eGpu and what do I have to buy to accomplish setup", and people respond to this thread no matter if there are 1152 pages documentation and a day earlier than mine?

    It is not a problem, I can ask to; "what is eGPU?" hoping for some replies. I just wanted to know is there any possibilities for accomplishing x2 speeds without mPcie adapter? Like assigning devices to new ports or something like that, which can be done via startup.bat or flash descriptor file, i dont know? I red nandos post for accomplishing x2 speeds on t61`s but i did not see anything that informed me, was it by mPCIe or other like SW solution? I only saw T61 on x1 speed no more?

    update: tried limiting frames to 75 in EVGA tool for my eGPU 9800GT, I was amazed by the smoothness of gameplay on max setting od COD4( but my CPU is a bottleneck 2.0 GHZ, but disabling stepping technology of cpu in bios and using throttleStop it is now working ~ 2.2 GHZ on x11 multi locked(fsb ~ 200mhz) and i got better performance, no sudden frame drops or so. And a big thank you for all the info. But cmon, tell me something for x2 speeds?

    Best regards

    I examined ports also in Si Sandara tool, and it reports that 1 3 5 are free ports as it is reported in setup 1.x. siSandra.gif
    So if I could attach eGPU on port 1 with mPCIe to hdmi could I get x4 speeds at the price of disabling the wifi unit on port 2(which I am willing to pay) because then the ports 3 and 4 would be with no devices. port 1 eGPU x4 speed? - wifi

    Please help, some guidance, because this laptop has the potential and I will report back with pics of the procedure and results. Can someone confirm or give me some tips on this.
