I have finally managed to put together a DA-2 power supply for eGPU purposes. After testing it for a couple of hours on an old 8800GT, it is now hooked up to the GTX 560 + Vidock solution. All I had to do was to plug the DA-2 connector to a 20-pin ATX female connector and wire it to a Pci-Express 6-pin y-cable. So far so good, I'll be trying out some heavy gaming soon and I shall let you know of the results. Thanks to everyone on these forums for the huge pile of data they provided which made this possible for me.

Here are a few pictures for better illustration purposes.

edit: the paper clip you see goes from the remote wire connector to the back of the ground wire, which means the psu is on when it's plugged. I'm currently doing some power measurements, I'll compile the results in an update to this topic.

Sorry for posting it in the wrong section, can a mod please move this to the appropriate subforum.

    edit: thanks.

and here are some power consumption figures at the plug.
GPU idle at desktop: anywhere between 25-35W.
GPU 1080p Full Screen Youtube video: anywhere between 33-38W.
    Light Gaming: anywhere between 95-115W.
Heavy Gaming / Benchmarks: anywhere between 130-140W.

System total (T520 i5-2520M) Benchmarking with 3DM11 is around 200W.

    edit2: updated consumption figures.

What is exactly your Vidock solution? I'm building a setup on PE4L2.1b expresscard/GTX460/dell da-2 and wonder how to get those 5v for the PE4L...
