    Hi guys,

so i´ve been thinking about buying a laptop, but i found out about egpu here in the forum, and ive some questions about it:

1- What are the best enclosures ? they are usually made by normal people right?

    2- Can i put a gtx 580 working?

3- can i play it, in my laptop lcd?

4- do you recommend to wait for ivy bridge and thunderbolt?

    thanks guys

No commercial enclosures available yet, find the one that fit best your GPU and adapt it :)

Yes, having an ATX PSU powerful enough
yes at lower performance than on external screen
It's up to you, for now except one product from MSI, no supplier has provided an ETA for the adapter. From my point of view Thunderbolt will not be available to mass market before 6-8 months. IB could be an improvement, but compared to SB the biggest gap in on the integrated GPU, not on the CPU itself.

    Express Card
    Pros: easily accessible
Cons: it is disappearing from the market (mainly available on business market today)

    mini-PCIe
Pros: every PC has at least one
Cons: usually below the notebook, it's not confortable to use it without a stand.

    Thunderbolt: yes, in the future.
USB 3.0: quite hard due the need to write drivers to redirect data through PCI-e bus
PCI 3.0; yes, once the notebooks will have those ports.
