    Hello all,

I'm new to all this, so excuse my attempt to describe my issues.

I just bought my PE4H setup.( http://www.hwtools.net/adapter/pe4h.html). My attempt was on a 8440w HP laptop with an internal nvidia card ( i believe it was a 380M). Here is the steps i took.
    1. Boot into win 7
    2. Turn on graphics card and let it load
    3. Plug express card into laptop
    4. Black screen several seconds later.

*I can hear windows detecting the card
The issue is, after it sees the card my laptop screen goes into a black screen and never comes out of it (even after unplugging the express card). I've read online to make sure it doesnt auto apply the display settings for the eGPU, but that didnt seem to be the case. If i boot into safe mode, it works fine, however when booting into normal windows it goes back to black screen. The first attempt I figured it maybe applied the display settings so I reformatted, NOPE same issue. Black screen on laptop, and no display out of the eGPU.

I'm hoping someone can help me out.

    Hi,

I had a similar issue when setting mine up. Just to confirm you are using a PM3N rather than the express card adapter?

I used the PM3N to plug into my mPCIe card slot (that was occupied by my wireless card). I set both the PE4H and PM3N delay switches to 1 (default), and I had to boot windows 7 with the wireless card in and then once running i put my laptop to sleep, i then plugged the PM3N adapter into where the wireless card was, connected it to my egpu setup (including having a hdmi cable from my egpu to my monitor) with the mini hdmi cable and switched on the psu with the switch provided in the kit.

I then resumed windows and waited for the drivers to install, once they installed i said restart later and then shutdown my laptop (this is because you have to boot windows with the wireless card back in again). I then put the wireless card back in, booted windows, put it to sleep, put the PM3N card back in switched the psu on, resumed windows and then navigated to the device manager where i saw under display adapters an unknown card with a yellow icon next to it (making sure i had an internet connection either by ethernet or by my usb wireless dongle) i right clicked the unknown card and said update drivers, this installed the graphics card and then it switched over to my external monitor.

    Hope this helps!

It actually ended up being a driver issue. Since I had the GTX 380M driver it would screw things up (read online that you need to find an in between driver). So I got past that and now I get error 12. After spending hours trying to fix it using the DSDT method, I decided to go with the DIY egpu setup method (Setup 110b5). Now i'm running into the issue where the setup doesnt see my egpu. I've tried the suggested method in the menu, but i'm still not having any luck. I've attached some screen shots, hoping someone can help me out.
