    Hey there,

I was just wondering whether an eGPU is fast enough to support gaming on a 27" Dell U2711 @ 2560x1440 resolution?

    cheers

    Z

Pretty dumb question, probably why no one is answering.

That's like asking, can a car be used for racing? With absolutely no other information given. Can a bird migrate 3000 miles? Can a boat move 90mph over water? Can a plane fly into space?

On older games like HL2 you could probably pull it off but you won't get far with new games running on that resolution.

Do you even know what an eGPU is? It's not a specific card. He needs to specify what he is using in an eGPU setup. Ever think?

Also this thread should be closed since there is already a GIANT, probably one of the biggest threads on NBR dedicated to eGPU where his question is already answered if he bothered to search for it/read it.

Really? The only one coming off as dumb here isn't me!

Since when did this turn into a forum where you can't ask questions?

How do I know if someone has managed to get a TB version working?
    Or a 6990 or 590 setup?
Or gotten an SLI setup running through 1 or even 2 x links?

How else would you find out if you didn't ask?

I have read and searched that thread and the answer is not there, or at least not that easy to find.

You should really look up the definition of a "forum"

Not sure if that's what I got from his question at all...

what I read it as is if there is an external GPU capable of running at that resolution. Reading between the lines I'm guessing with playable frame rates of current games.

    Haha...are you serious as well?

Of course I wasn't asking about playing any modern games at decent enough FPS...I was actually asking if I could play 32 instances of farmville at 27 fps :D
