got the sonnet echo express working this morning with my macbook air.

credit goes to kryzaach for being able to get it to work with his nvidia card, and motivating me to get off my butt to finish this project. initially i had only been successful with an older ati video card that could be powered off of the internal powersupply in the chassis.

the secret is to the way i did it relies on creating a wiring loom with a pcie interposer cable and isolating PWRGD, 12V, 3.3V and 3.3Vaux lines completely from the echo express chassis and having them be supplied by the external atx power supply.

diy egpu detects it. will perform more testing of other features, but it should behave like the nvidia.

Will post up more results tonight. Optimus should work as well as other things just like the old thunderbolt expresscard setup I had a while back.

Wait, so the main reason you had trouble getting the 560 to work was because of the external power supply you needed? If you were using a more power efficient card like the nvidia 660 then it should just be "plug and play" like your amd card was?

I am using the TH05, would diy egpu work for a thunderbolt device like this?
