    Hi,

I have had an eGPU setup running for sometime with my Dell latitude E6520. I use PE4H 2.4 to hook up a ASUS GTX580 powered by a 550w PSU. The setup is simple, I just connect the eGPU and install the desktop version nvidia driver and after reboot it worked straight away. I started using this setup almost a year ago and have upgraded nvidia driver to 306.xx last. It works perfect with internal lcd being able to run on optimus and also works if I use an external monitor.

lately I acquired an old laptop, a Dell latitude e4300. I tried to hook it up with the eGPU setup but then get error 12. After some reading I learnt that this machine has the 3.5GB memory limit problem. But a DSDT override provided by rando helps solve it so I eventually get it running with the latest driver 310.xx. But the problem is that optimus is not enabled, I can only use external monitor. And the performance on external monitor is worse than my optimus capable setup with my newer laptop the e6520. so tried using mobile driver and modify the inf file but same thing. eventually I suspect maybe it's the new driver's problem so I uninstall the 310.xx driver and install the 306.xx driver (lucky I still have a copy of it) and it now runs optimus properly.

so I'm wondering if anyone else is using the latest driver 310.xx and can get optimus enabled. If yes can you show me how is it done?

    thanks
