    hello, i am a new member to this forum since i discovered that i can create an external graphics card for my thinkpad t420. Here's the deal this year am off to uni, and my mum bought me this laptop in which i can't run any game. can anyone pls let me know if my laptop is compatible for this and where i can buy the parts? thank you very much, you will save me lots of money :)

    PE4H v2.4a + EC2C +SPB087 ExpressCard

    Hi,

    I'm new too but I guess you should check if your ExpressCard slot uses PCIe 1.0 or 2.0. If it is 2.0, you should buy PE4L instead of PE4H.

    Your laptop has a sandy bridge processor so it is capable of pcie 2.0. I would choose the PE4L as their is a big different. Also, if you are debating nvidia or amd choose nvidia as you will be able to enable Optimus, which gives you a huge boost in performance. Depending on your budget, the 460, 560, 560ti, or 660 are great options.

    You want a PE4L. Also, be sure to update to the latest bios as some older versions have an incompatible TOLUD.
