http://www.arima.com.tw/ViewSupport.asp?View=71. The Arima drivers. Fit all m68xx machines. You could also get a set of restore disks from eMachines ~$20. Check your BIOS too, if it ain't 0f08 BIOS SP2 will have problems. You can get the upgrade BIOS from eMachines.

    First PC = Vic-20, 8" 128KB Home-Brew Floppy Drive ... Current Rig = eMachines m6805 ... Quantum Leap?

thanks for your help OLYTEDDY. I was having problems installing winxp because the laptop would reboot before I get a full installion with winxp. Was able to install winme but the graphic I believe is for winxp only. Did get ahold of emachines and they are going to send me the cd, which still cost $20.00 which is worth it for me. While I'm waiting I'm still trying to get this laptop to do a complete install of winxp, while typing this it just rebooted itself and don't know why?? Question!! On the Broadcom 54g. Max performance 802.11g wireless network adapter is installed but it shows it as being disabled. The screen tells me to use the hardware radio conrol switch to enable it (Well thats my problem can not locate the hardware radio control switch, have any idea where this is located?? I', just a green horn all the way (HA HA)

Fn - F2 will turn on the wireless for you. A Blue LED under the touch pad should turn on.

There is also a BIOS item that chooses how it starts up, Always on, Always off or resume previous state.

I'm a little slow at this since I'm recovering from an aneurysm operation I had on my head. This trying to work the laptop helps to keep my mind active. so just bear with me and thanks for your help. We got the m8605 to accept the winxp to be installed and what was cashing it to keep rebooting when trying to install was the wrong upgrade memory stick which my son brought and it was installed by the store. So we are now waiting for the correct one. Was able to install all drivers thanks to info given by OLYTEDDY (thank you) and we learned how to able the wireless thanks to STYLEE. Got good signal for the wireless but don't know how to make it connect to the net, any suggections would be appreciated!! Also since I have no manual for this laptop I don't know the functions for the function key and have not seen anything listed so can that be listed to help us out. Once again thank you all for your help[ ;)]

I have a M6809 so I will list what the function keys do on mine, I don't think they differ from them M6805 at all.

    FN - F2 = wireless on/off

    FN - F3 = sleep

    FN - F4 = Toggles exteral monitor on/off

    FN - F7 = Brightness down

    FN - F8 = Brightness up

    F9-F12 media controls
    FN - F9 = Play/Pause
    FN - F10 = Stop
    FN - F11 = Previous Track
    FN - F12 = Next Track
FN - Prt sc = sys rq (and I have no clue what that is)
FN - Scroll - Function Lock use this so you can use the num pad feature

    FN - Pause = Break

As for the wireless, what kind of router do you have.. Does the router have a internet connection going to it, etc.

    Hope this helps.

You can update your graphic drivers (ATI 9600) at www.omegadrivers.net probably the best drivers for ATI cards. Go to Realtek.com.tw to update your sound card and Viaarena.com for the latest chipset drivers (drivers on top of page)
