    Greetings,
It seems emachines is now doing something right.

I emailed a letter to standard tech support (not upper-level or management type) and they responded to the following effect:

"The M5XXX series systems that are shutting down due to the system
overheating can be sent to the warehouse for repair.

Please Note: Emachines will repair any M5XXX series Notebook (Including
out of warranty Notebooks) for the heating issue ONLY.

As the applicable systems that qualify for
repair for the hinge cover issue are the following:

    Applicable Systems: 7210GX, 7305GZ, M6810, 7215GX, 7405GX, 7410GX,
    7415GX, 4540GZ, M2105, M2350, M2352, M2356, M6410, M6805, M6807, M6809, M6811, 7405GH"

Do they have a permanent fix for the hinge problem?

My guess would be not. Permanent fixes are too expensive. ^_^

Would you mind sending that e-mail address? I have had a problem with my computer randomly shutting down even when I first put it on.
    Thanks

I've worked there, you just have to send it in and they put it in a new casing. I have a question on these, but will start a new thread. :)
