I can't even get a widescreen DVD to fill in this widescreen LCD. Also, when I play a video file, I get black bars on the sides of the LCD..

Is there anyway to format the videos to get them to fill the screen?

    This is my first widescreen...

I noticed the same thing on the N6. Playing DVDs with media player left bars on all sides, but when I used windvd (that's the dvd playback software that ships with fujitsu if i am not mistaken) I managed full screen playback. I didn't try regular video files, and my laptop isn't here to try it at the moment.

At the time I blamed media player and cared less, since I prefer to use software designed for dvd playback.

Its interesting. Isnt DVD playback designed for 16:9 viewing? And 15.4" widescreen notebooks are made in 16:10 ratio. SO wouldnt plackback still result in smaller back bars at top and bottom?

It may be because of the resoultion of the 17" screen? Because its such a big screen, and it only has a wxga+ resoultion. I have heard of people talking about watching dvds on the N6010 may be a little pixelated due to the fact the pixels are bigger because of a lower pixel density. Perhaps you can compare pixel denisty of different screens.
