There is a deal at outpost.com for 1Gb PC2700 SO-DIMMs for $139. This seems to be a great price but is there really a performance gain versus the 512Mb that comes with my S6210 (assuming, of course, that the RAM is compatible)?

Is there a way to put processes that normally run off disk into RAM to speed things up? I know of RAMdisk type software but have never played around with it. Is it more cost/performance effective to just upgrade to a 7200rpm disk for about the same price from zipzoomfly.com? ( http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=100526 )

Here is the link for the RAM:

I'm not sure that RAM is compatible, sounds pretty cheap for 1GB on one stick. Anyway, I think you'll be okay with 512. I'd rather do the HDD upgrade than another 512.

Don't buy the 1gb stick unless it is a major brand memory. I bought that premium bs brand and it didnt work, tried it 2 times. Go with more major type of brands like Corsair or Crucial memory. Cheap deals can screw up your computer/laptop, so not the best idea. [ :D]
