Oh no, today I turned on my computer and right from startup, there is a 2 in" wide vertical white strip in the middle of the screen of my 5yo N6010 model.
I tried to do a print screen to show you, but oddly when I do the print screen and paste the image, you don't see the white strip at all.
Therefore I think it's my screen that is the problem after a google search. They say it is replaceable, so I did a search on ebay and it can be brought for $150, but that is before I pay someone to install it for me since I don't know how to do it.
Do you have any thoughts on what other problem it could be if it's not the screen? There was no problem with my computer at all yesterday. However, yesterday I did install avast free antivirus program and ran a full scan of my computer. That was the only different thing I did yesterday from all my other days.
It's probably $300 total to buy the screen and have it installed, or pay $1,600 for a new laptop![]()

you could test on a external monitor to see if it has the same effect, that would tell you from the start if its something else and witha 5 year old laptop that you didnt accidently drop it could very well be. Dont give up on solving the issue, things like this can take alot of time figuring out. Depending on what you want to do with your laptop that is 5 years old. Finding a deal on an monitor and having some one guide you threw the process of puting it on would be the simplist if you wanted to save your notebook. You could always sell the entire thing on ebay and use that to pay for a new one also. Theres alot of coupons and deals around and if you look you can find some. If you google dell coupons you can usualy come up with a nice xps system. The new envys are nice made by hewlett packard.
