    1) I'm guessing on such an old laptop, you have a desktop cpu, so of course you have noisy fans

    2) everyone gets em

    3) you seriously expect the battery to last that long? All batteries will be shot after 3 years

    4) you should look at some dells and see the light leakage on them

    5) after 3 years of use, what do you expect of those?

So while you have some good cases, it's a 3 year old laptop, what did you expect after all this time. Any 3 year old notebook will have those problems.

This actually happens to most notebooks. Here's a few tips/solutions

Clean your fan and heatsink. You'll have to open your notebook to do that. This may help reduce your fan noise once all the dust and junk that you've accumulated over the past few years is gone

Laptop batteries usually last 3-4 years. The day batteries are made in the factories, their battery life slowly starts to diminish. Try to recalibrate your battery to see if you can get more than 30 minutes of use. If not, it's time to buy a new battery.

As for screen leakage and loose screen hinges, this is a build quality issue and you won't be able to do anything about it.

    hmmm...
I have the same laptop. Actually, I'm using this laptop right now.
-Fan is always on and annoying to me
-Battery life is still good on my laptop and I can still get around 3 hours of battery life. If I pull out my optical drive and put in another battery, I can get about 5.5 hours of battery life.
-My screen is still in good shape

I bought this laptop in 2005 and use it almost everyday. Maybe I am just luck so I don't have any big issue on this laptop.

Are kidding me? You should consider yourself lucky that your battery is still running after 2 years.

I have a Amilo D that i have used pretty much every day for the last 4+ years. It is now on its last legs but it has served me very well. Only things that have gone wrong include the battery pack blowing up last year (got a new one off the net so its fine again), the casing starting to crack a little by the card reader and the dvd drive and the main one which is a loose connection with the lcd so it cuts out occasionally (a little tap or wiggle usually fixes this).

im lucky to get about 15 mins battery life but thats to be expected. And the fan makes a bit of noise but its always done that so its not really a problem.

I wouldnt be too pissed with yours, its lasted a long time.
