    Hello all,

Thanks for the advice and insights, this forum has been a real treat so far. I had a silly question about the gaming ability of the S6231. Although i didn't buy this laptop to play games on I was wondering if this comp is able to play games such as Guildwars. Here are the minimum requirements for the game.

    System requirements

    Windows 98, 2000, Me, XP
Intel Pentium III 800 MHz processor
    256 MB RAM
    250 MB hard-drive space
    32 MB GeForce 2 class-compatible video card
    Sound card
    CD-ROM drive
Internet service required to access online features

Does the onboard graphics card on the S6231 meet these requirements? I have a 7200 RPM HD and 768MB of ram so I think I can cover the other requirements.

If the game reqires a geforce 2 at least then I would have to say it wont be playable on the intel built in graphics. The GF2 has to be at least 10-15 times faster/better than the intel built in. I really doubt that having a processor way faster than the minimal requirements will make up for the lack of graphic processing power.

BTW hard disk speed has very limited effect on games. It improves loading speeds, and some games that require constant HDD access will be better. But in general Hard drives aren't a major factor in gaming.

What about "command and conquer" type games?

It would probably work on low res. To play current games at any good quality you really need a dedicated graphics card.

I know Rome Total War runs on that machine at low settings. Games like Rise of Nations will execute flawlessly.

The Geforce 2000 series is pretty old now. So it isn't really that much better than a new version of integrated graphics, if better at all. It should run fine.
