I haven't been around the forums for a while since I got my new toy (Treo 650) and am new to Pdas, so I've been trying to figure that whole scene out.

Anyway, I was with my buddy today at a notebook store to take his 7010 in for warranty repair (less than a year old and the thing won't power on), and saw the 6240.

I decided I need a 6240 keyboard, just looks a lot better to me.

Has anyone done this, and if so, how much am I looking at?

You should email someone like Portable One to see what they'd charge you for it. I'd guess $150 or so.

Yeah, that's what I did, and they didn't respond to my email. Haven't tried getting back to them yet. I checked with the place where my friend took his notebook for warranty repair. They couldn't get a price from Fujitsu since their servers were down, but said probably a minimum of $100.

    One918,

I know the N6010 keyboard is $79, and I don't think yours would cost more, esp since mine is bigger due to the number pad. Don't know what they'd charge for the install, if they even take it on.

It's also possible that even if it looks the same, it's not the same inside, and therefore, not interchangeable. (Long story why) P1 replaced my N6210 black touchpad with a N6010 white touchpad. They had to replace a cable from the white touchpad with one from the black touchpad, so I think they had to buy both to make one. They didn't know if that would even be possible until all the parts came in, they tried it, and it worked.

I tried calling Fujitsu earlier to ask if it's possible to swap N6010 and N6210 keyboards, and after taking a long time to ask everyone in the call center, they said they have no idea, so doing that would be a waste of time. Considering what happened to the touchpad, it looks like service centers also don't really know. So, it looks like no one would be able to give you a definite answer, so the only thing you can do is pay for the keyboard once you know how much and keep your fingers crossed hoping that it'll fit. Good luck!
