    Hello,

I recently (within the last four months) acquired this brand new laptop in Europe:

    Fujitsu Siemens FSC AMILO D-1845
    Intel P4 548 HT 3.33 GHz
    15.4” TFT WXGA+, 1280 x 800 pixel,
ATI MOBILITY RADEON. 9700 128MB external RAM

I recently have had a lot of trouble playing DVDs or running games. (I'm a mild gamer with an addiction to World of Warcraft, among others).

I run the game... and sometimes it takes up to 5 or 6 hours, but eventually the computer freezes. Usually it only lasts for about 20 minutes before freezing. The freeze is irreversable, and I have to restart the notebook.

The computer has been known to freeze up in Windows too, but not nearly as often.

I was wondering if any other users, of any notebook were having this problem and if anyone would be able to give me insight.

One more thing, most of the time just as it is freezing the computer cuts into these static noises. They are quite annoying and have convinced me that there is a really big problem with my computer.

    Cheers.

That's a tough one, definitely should not be happening with DVD playing. You might consider doing a system restore to get back where you started, or even a clean install of Windows if you have that ability.

As brian said. Do a system restore. Add to that a full upgrade of all drivers.

The sounds that are comin out of your speakers might be an indicator of sound card driver issues.Either your drivers that you currently have installed are corupt, or the current version that you have might have problems, which could have been resolved in newer releases. Which seems logical since your problem happens mostly with DVD and games, both of which require frequent use of the sound drivers.
