So I am looking to replace my Averatec 3250 and my quest for a better ~4-pound laptop has sent me Fujitsu's way. I have my choice between the MT-28 S2110, the newer MT-30 S2110, or the S6240. Battery life is a major priority. I've been staring at these forums, reviews from other sources, etc., and I can't seem to get even a remotely consistent time figure for the battery-- especially for the 6240. Can anyone who actually *owns* any of these things tell me what kind of battery times you're getting with realworld use (wifi on, etc.)? I'm especially curious not only to hear about the 6240 but also to compare the MT-30 with the MT-28 2110s, if anybody has the -30 model yet.

Also, I'd like hear from 6240 owners on the frequency of fan turnon, as I have found a bit of circumstantial evidence to suggest that this may be an issue, but not enough to convince me that it's a universal problem. (I wish they were still making the 6231...)

    Thanks very much in advance!

I don't have a S2110 (yet), but I will have some imput on this. The only difference between the MT-28 and MT-30 is an extra 512k of L2-cache, not clock speed. So, there should be *very* little difference (less than 10 minutes?) in battery life between the MT-28 and MT-30.

As for the other questions, I would be curious to see the answers.

I'm pretty sure the S2110 review was reviewed by a person who used both models.

They are comparing a brand new 2110 to a ~11-month-old 6231 in that review-- so the battery for the 6231 is presumably well-used at that point-- and the claims that the battery lasts "about half an hour longer" in the 2110 are circumstantial / based on subjective feeling; no hard numbers are ever given.

There is no actual review of the 6240 up here yet, alas. The links all lead to 6231 reviews.

This video test seems to suggest that the 6240 has significantly better battery life than the 2110, but again, no hard numbers are given and the figure is based on operations under benchmarking rather than real-world use.

I have reviews from Asia complaining about less than 3 hours' time on the 6240 and anecdotal evidence from other source suggesting anywhere from 3.5 to 4.5 hours on the same. It'd just be good to hear from people who own the thing.

when I did the review of the S2110, I averaged about 3.5 hours with low brightness and Wi-Fi on, got around 4 hours without Wi-Fi

I felt that the fan turned on and off frequently. When I ran alot of apps, the fan was on most of the time.

oh and by the way the S6231 I was comparing it to was only a couple of months old because Fujitsu sent me a new one because my previous one had a problem with it that they were not able to fix, so the battery was new.

Did they send you a brand new machine or do you think it was refurbished? (Or couldn't tell but have doubts)

3 hours isn't all that great as this machine is 'suppose' to produce about 4 - 5 hours.

True, but I don't know a laptop in the land that lives up to its battery life specs....

I can pull about 4 hour and 30 minutes on Max Battery mode with screen brightness at medium doing tasks like word processing and web browsing. With a mixture of video, word processing, web browsing and photo editing (the usual combination), I usually get 3:30 - 4:00. I have the MT-30 S2110. I wrote a little review at http://frostyle.servehttp.com/fujitsu/review.html
