hi everyone, i am new to this forum. nice to meet everyone.

    i personally own a lifebook s7211.
the processor is T2330 duo core 1.6GHz, 2GB RAM and running Vista Basic.
However, I find out that my laptop doesn't come with a graphic card.
I am thinking to buy a graphic card and fit it into my ExpressCard slot.

I need a powerful graphic card (to play COD4 and other games).
Nevertheless, I am concerned about the compatibility of the graphic card with the motherboard as well as the power supply and heat.
Is there any suitable graphic card for my s7211 that won't blow up my laptop?

Seriously need help, I am from Malaysia and my budget can go the highest about RM700-800 which is about 200-250USD.

    Thanks in advance

You cannot upgrade your graphics card. There is no such thing as a laptop PCI card, and your laptop does not have a PCI slot.

Please read the stickies before you post.

I doubt that there is any graphics card that can be plugged into an ExpressCard slot. Unless you find a serious place (some known computer store) that says they have such a card, I think you're out of luck.

I own a Lifebook S6210, which has an integrated graphics card (the same kind of card as your S7211, though mine is probably slower). Sorry tanjinjack, if you want a better gaming performance you will have to buy a new laptop. But keep in mind, better graphic cards usually cut down seriously on battery duration.

So, is there any USB graphic card for laptop?
An external graphic card. Such thing exists right?

There exists PCIe to ExpressCard adapter so you can plug a PCIe graphic card to Expresscard, but it is very expensive. It is increible how some people say something whitout know.

Asus launched an external GPU unit (I forget the name) which would connect to a notebook through the Express Card slot. However, it never got into widespread circulation, perhaps because one could get a cheap desktop at a similar price. It is best to be thankful for a notebook that keeps reasonably cool and has a decent battery run time.

Jesus Christ how many times do we have to go through this...

The throughput of the expresscard slot is 250 MB/s. PCIE x16 (the current standard for any GPU) has a throughput of 4 GB/s. AGP 8x (an old, yet still feasible standard) has a throughput of 2 GB/s.

The only cards that can theoretically work through the expesscard slot are very basic - barely considered upgrades to the internal GPU or a weak dedicated GPU.

That is why - IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO UPGRADE YOUR GRAPHICS CARD.

Here, maybe a picture is easier to understand:

yea you can't add a GPU on your S7211. asus XG station is an ancient old news.
nvidia might upgrade for you if you pay them a million dollars.
