    Hi ppl!

Im getting my very first and new notebook on monday and now i got this question. Im going to get a wireless router at christmas, but what to buy?
Iv checked D-Link DGL-4300 a little and it seems to be pretty much what i want/need. According to FJS i get gb-lan in the Xi 1526, and i also have a gb-lan in my desktop PC. So... What i need is a good throughput cuz i use lots of p2p stuff. I will transfer files between the laptop and desktop PC, thats why GB-lan can be nice. Im also a bit of a gamer. So, you guys got any other routers that fits my needs... Iv also checked the Linksys WRT54GL, but it seems like it has no high throughput so im not so sure about that one.
I need to decide as soon as possible, so all thoughts and tips are very thankful :)

    Thx.
    Pierre

I think that D-Link should be okay. Speeds on wireless vary quite a lot from router to router. Having said that, D-Link provide some good products and that one you have indicated is quite good. Also, the GB LAN on the Xi 1526 is good, but your hard disk can't really keep up with the data movement. It can only reach a maximum of about 50 mb/s, so its somewhat pointless to have GB LAN. Hope this helps.

Yes indeed speeds vary quite a lot, and for now im thinking of using the integrated networkcard on the mobo, so no 108 mbit here, just ordinary 54. Although i know i wont get the 54 that the spec. says... Thx for the info about the hdd thing. Iv heard ppl have been running on 300mbit/s with their notebooks on the DGL-4300. I guess this depends on the speed of hdd. Im still interested of it, but i give you guys a chance to come up with other ideas.
    Thx again!
